Suzlon Energy’s long-term growth case rests on converting a large wind-turbine order book into commissioned projects and cash, while expanding into broader renewable-energy services. Its reported delivery growth, manufacturing capacity and net-cash position support the opportunity; execution, working capital, margins and governance are the tests. The company’s FY31 goals are management ambitions, not assured forecasts. This framework evaluates the business outlook, not Suzlon’s share valuation or whether any individual should buy or sell the stock.

What the latest results establish—and what they do not

Start with the period and accounting line item. Suzlon Energy Limited’s audited FY26 consolidated results, filed on 28 July 2026, report revenue from operations of ₹16,679.11 crore and net profit of ₹3,163.39 crore. Its results for the quarter ended 30 June 2026 (Q1 FY27) report revenue from operations of ₹3,819.36 crore and net profit of ₹305.22 crore; the quarter was unaudited and subject to a limited review by the statutory auditors.

Period and source Revenue from operations Net profit Status
FY26, Suzlon Energy Limited consolidated results filed 28 July 2026 ₹16,679.11 crore ₹3,163.39 crore Audited
Q1 FY27, quarter ended 30 June 2026 ₹3,819.36 crore ₹305.22 crore Unaudited; limited-reviewed

Do not multiply the Q1 FY27 figures by four and treat the result as a forecast. A single quarter can be affected by delivery and commissioning timing, project mix, costs and other period-specific factors; the annual and quarterly figures are not interchangeable evidence of a trend.

Suzlon’s investor page also presents FY26 revenue of ₹10,851 crore and EBITDA of ₹1,857 crore, with year-on-year growth of 67% and 81%, respectively. Those page figures do not match the statutory filing’s consolidated revenue-from-operations figure above. Because the available figures are presented in different contexts and the basis for reconciling them is not established here, keep them separate rather than combining or substituting one for the other. When comparing periods or companies, use the same reporting basis and line items.

How to assess whether the order book is turning into business

Suzlon’s Q1 FY27 investor presentation reports an order book of 6,135 MW as of July 2026, including orders received after June. Its live investor page separately shows 6,400 MW without a clear as-of date. For a dated comparison, use the presentation figure and record its July cutoff; do not treat the undated live-page figure as the same snapshot.

An order book is a pipeline, not revenue already earned. Conversion typically requires equipment supply, site readiness, installation, commissioning and the milestones needed for billing and collection. Suzlon’s presentation charts the order book at 5,025 MW in March 2025, 5,697 MW in March 2026, 5,933 MW in June 2026 and 6,135 MW in July 2026. Track the associated execution measures alongside the headline total:

  • New orders and cancellations: whether additions replenish work being completed, and whether changes in scope or cancellations alter the quality of the pipeline.
  • Deliveries and commissioning: whether turbines supplied are progressing to commissioned projects, rather than accumulating at intermediate stages.
  • Billing and collection: whether recognized business is converting to cash on a reasonable timetable.
  • Site and grid readiness: whether land, permits, logistics and grid connections allow projects to proceed.

Suzlon reported 506 MW of turbine deliveries in Q1 FY27, 14% higher year on year; commissioning of 269 MW, 2.3 times the year-earlier quarter; and about 1 GW of new orders. These are company-reported execution figures, not independent verification. The same presentation says 1,257 MW of turbines had been erected with commissioning pending. That gap is a reason to watch commissioning as closely as deliveries: erected equipment has not necessarily reached the same project or revenue milestone as a commissioned turbine.

Read the order mix for concentration and execution exposure

The Q1 FY27 presentation provides several useful dimensions of the July 2026 order book. They describe the issuer’s stated mix, not a guarantee that the mix or customer demand will persist.

Dimension Mix reported by Suzlon What to monitor
Turbine models S144: 88%; S120: 10%; S175: 2% Whether new orders broaden the product mix and whether newer platforms progress from initial orders to repeat demand.
Customer category Captive/C&I/retail: 70%; central and state auctions: 16%; PSU: 14% Customer and procurement concentration, payment terms, and the conversion pace of different buyer categories.
Contract scope EPC: 32%; non-EPC: 68% Whether broader project scope brings acceptable margins and cash conversion as well as additional sales.
State exposure Karnataka: 29%; Gujarat: 22%; Andhra Pradesh: 20% Geographic concentration and state-specific site, grid and execution conditions.

Suzlon said 84% of its approximately 6.1 GW cumulative order book came from PSU and C&I sectors. That company-reported customer characterization is not identical to the presentation’s customer-mix categories, so compare the underlying definitions before drawing a trend from the two disclosures.

Why EPC orders need a separate margin and cash test

The EPC share in the presentation increased from 22% in Q1 FY26 to 32% in Q1 FY27. A broader contract can include more of a project’s delivery and potentially deepen a customer relationship, but it also brings more coordination, execution and working-capital responsibility. Suzlon’s June 2026 announcement of a 400 MW Tata Power EPC contract in Andhra Pradesh illustrates the scope: 127 S144 3.15 MW turbines, land acquisition, turbine supply, balance of plant, a pooling substation, an extra-high-voltage line, commissioning, and operations and maintenance. Suzlon said the contract took its cumulative Tata Power partnership above 1 GW.

Do not treat the contract’s full capacity or value as turbine revenue. The accounting allocation between equipment and other work is not established by the contract announcement. Instead, follow reported segment margins, project costs, receivables, inventory and cash flow as EPC work scales.

Test reported growth against cash and working capital

Suzlon’s Q1 FY27 presentation reports net cash of ₹2,322 crore at June 2026, compared with ₹2,384 crore at March 2026 and ₹1,943 crore at June 2025. At June 2026 it also reports borrowings of ₹277 crore, cash and equivalents of ₹2,599 crore, trade receivables of ₹5,890 crore and inventories of ₹5,172 crore. These are company-presented balance-sheet figures, in ₹ crore.

Net cash can provide capacity to fund investment, but it is not by itself proof that growth is self-funding. A useful check is whether profit is accompanied by operating cash flow and whether receivables and inventory grow in a controlled way relative to deliveries and project activity. Rising balances can absorb cash even when reported earnings are strong. Also monitor finance costs and any change in payment terms as the EPC share expands.

Separate the FY31 strategy from evidence of delivery

On 3 June 2026, Suzlon announced a “Suzlon 2.0” wind-first, full-stack renewable-energy strategy spanning technology, development, projects and asset management. Its FY31 goals are ambitions stated by management, not independently validated forecasts.

FY31 ambition announced by Suzlon How to evaluate progress
10 GW annual renewable-energy sales, described by the company as four times the then-current level Look for annual milestones in sales, delivery capacity, commissioning and cash generation, not only a longer-range target.
15 GW order book Assess additions alongside conversion, cancellations, delivery and commissioning; a larger pipeline alone does not establish profitable growth.
70 GW of renewable-energy assets under management, described as four times growth Track assets actually under management and the recurring revenue and returns they contribute.
About 40% share of India’s wind market Check the market definition and period used, as well as realized deliveries and competitive position.
3 GW of export order intake Look for named orders, eligibility, delivery evidence and collection, rather than treating export opportunity as secured demand.
About 60% of volume contribution from RE DevCo Watch how the business mix changes and whether development activity produces sustainable margins and cash.

Suzlon’s Vice Chairman, Girish Tanti, said on 3 June 2026: “In the next 5 years, we aim to grow our renewable fleet under management by 4x to 70 GW and annual RE sales of 10 GW.” This is an attributed management statement of intent. The company’s Q1 FY27 investor presentation also states that it gives no representation or warranty about the reasonableness or achievability of projections in the presentation—an explicit reminder to treat targets as targets.

Capacity and newer products are inputs, not proof of returns

The Q1 FY27 presentation lists 4,500 MW of domestic manufacturing capacity and says three new smart-blade factories are under construction. Capacity supports the possibility of higher output, but its value depends on utilization, supply-chain readiness, quality, product demand and the ability to deliver commissioned projects.

Suzlon identifies the S144 3.15 MW platform in its Tata Power announcement and announced the S175 5 MW platform and an initial order in June 2026. The Q1 FY27 release described the S175 as “FDRE-ready” and said manufacturing had been scaled at its Bhuj facility; that is the CEO’s company-reported assessment, not third-party testing of reliability or cost competitiveness. The evidence presented here does not establish customer-level operating performance or a mature earnings contribution from the new platform.

The company also said it plans a battery-storage manufacturing facility by 2027 and an asset-light solar model using ecosystem partnerships. These adjacencies could broaden its renewable-energy offering, but should remain optionality in a growth assessment until there is evidence of commercial orders, revenue, margins and returns on investment.

Put sector opportunity in its proper context

Suzlon’s Q4 FY26 presentation cited projections for Indian wind capacity of 100 GW by 2030 and 400 GW by 2047, alongside wider renewable-energy and electricity-demand projections. These are company-presented projections drawing on named sources including the Central Electricity Authority and an EY December 2024 energy-transition report; they are not realized capacity figures, and the underlying forecast publications have not been independently verified here. Use them as a possible market tailwind, not as evidence that Suzlon will win a particular share of future projects.

The same company presentation names C&I procurement, repowering, exports, grid stability and offshore wind support as demand drivers. Each describes a potential market channel, not a Suzlon award. Treat a specific opportunity as company growth only when there is a named order, project disclosure or other reported evidence. Policy and regulation can also affect eligibility, sourcing, timing and compliance costs. India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy maintains an official ALMM-Wind list, shown as updated on 20 August 2026; check the current list and applicable orders before making a claim about a particular turbine or component’s approval status.

Risks that could interrupt the growth case

  • Execution and conversion: land, grid connections, logistics, installation and commissioning delays can defer project milestones, revenue and collection.
  • Margin and working-capital pressure: a rising EPC share can change the cost, risk and cash profile of work; inventory and receivables already warrant close tracking.
  • Concentration: the reported order mix is concentrated by turbine model, customer category and a handful of states. A shift in demand or local execution conditions could therefore matter disproportionately.
  • Target delivery and capital allocation: the FY31 ambitions require sustained capacity additions, staffing, supply-chain execution and investment that earns adequate returns.
  • New-business uncertainty: storage manufacturing and asset-light solar plans have not yet established commercial performance in the evidence cited here.
  • Policy and sector dependence: wind activity depends on procurement, auctions, grid readiness, financing and regulatory conditions; changing rules can support domestic manufacturing while also adding cost or delay.
  • Governance and legal developments: Suzlon’s Q1 FY27 filing discloses that a SEBI order dated 29 May 2026 imposed an aggregate ₹28.95 crore penalty on noticees, of which ₹15.95 crore was attributable to Suzlon. The matter concerns specified transactions and disclosures from FY2013–14 through FY2017–18. Suzlon said it appealed to the Securities Appellate Tribunal on 13 July 2026 and that management believes there is no material impact on results. The appeal means the matter should not be described as resolved.

A repeatable quarterly checklist

Use consistent periods and definitions when assessing Suzlon over time or comparing it with another wind OEM or renewable-energy company. A compact update sheet can make improvements and deterioration visible without relying on a single headline number.

Track each reporting period Question it answers
Order additions, closing order book and its as-of date Is the pipeline growing, and are snapshots comparable?
Deliveries, commissioning and erected-but-not-commissioned capacity Is execution converting equipment and orders into completed projects?
Revenue, EBITDA and margin, net profit Is activity producing durable operating performance? Keep consolidated and segment measures distinct.
Operating cash flow, net cash or debt, finance cost, receivables and inventory Are earnings converting into cash without excessive working-capital absorption?
EPC share and contract scope Is broader scope changing margin, execution exposure or cash needs?
Service and AUM contribution Is recurring activity becoming material relative to one-off equipment and project sales?
Manufacturing capacity, utilization, product mix and delivery record Can installed capacity and new platforms support actual customer demand?
Customer, state and export mix; regulatory and governance disclosures Are concentration and compliance risks changing?
Storage, solar and DevCo investment and returns Are adjacent businesses producing measurable commercial outcomes?
