To enable Push to Talk in Discord on iPhone, tap your avatar in the bottom-right corner, open User Settings with the gear icon, scroll to Voice, and choose Push to Talk under the input settings. Discord’s mobile troubleshooting guide identifies Voice Activity and Push to Talk as the mobile input choices: Discord Voice and Video Troubleshooting Guide.
Enable Push to Talk in Discord for iOS
- Open Discord and tap your avatar in the bottom-right corner.
- Tap the gear icon to open User Settings.
- Scroll to Voice.
- Under the input settings, select Push to Talk.
The setting is in the mobile Voice menu. Discord’s desktop instructions use a different menu name, Voice & Video, and include keyboard shortcut setup; you do not need to configure a desktop keybind to select the iOS input mode. What Push to Talk changes
Voice Activity sends audio automatically when you speak. Push to Talk is intended to transmit audio only while you manually activate its control. Discord’s Voice Input Modes 101 says, “Push to Talk (PTT) ensures that any input audio doesn’t transmit unless you press and hold a dedicated Push to Talk key on your keyboard.” That explanation appears in Discord’s keyboard instructions; it does not establish the exact iOS in-call control or gesture.
If Push to Talk does not behave as expected
- Return to User Settings > Voice and check which input mode is selected.
- Try switching between Push to Talk and Voice Activity, then check whether voice behavior changes.
- Update Discord if an update is available; Discord’s newer voice troubleshooting guide recommends checking that the app is up to date.
- If the issue continues, consult Discord’s iOS troubleshooting steps, which include clearing the app cache in Developer Settings and trying CallKit integration under Notifications.
CallKit is a separate connectivity troubleshooting option, not the setting that enables Push to Talk.
