To enable .htaccess support for a WordPress website on an Agency plan, open the site’s hPanel dashboard and switch on .htaccess support under Settings. The change applies automatically; there is no separate save step. The toggle is available only for WordPress websites.
Before you begin
These instructions apply to WordPress websites on Agency Hosting. If your site is not a WordPress website, you will not see the .htaccess support toggle. Agency Hosting provides separate dashboard alternatives for common .htaccess tasks on non-WordPress sites.
Enable .htaccess support
- Sign in to hPanel.
- Open Websites, then select Dashboard beside the WordPress website you want to configure.
- Scroll to Settings.
- Find .htaccess support and switch it on. The active toggle turns purple, and the setting applies automatically.
When to enable the setting
.htaccess is a configuration file used by Apache-based web servers. It can support rules for redirects, access permissions, advanced WordPress configurations, and custom error pages such as 404 and 403. Enable support when a specific setup requires those rules; it is not necessary for every website.
Agency Hosting uses its web server technology by default, which handles many redirect and rewrite needs natively. For a basic redirect, use the built-in Redirects tool instead. The support setting is off by default for performance, and the guidance is to leave it off unless your setup needs it.

Turn .htaccess support off
Return to the same site dashboard setting and switch .htaccess support off if you no longer need it. The toggle applies automatically.
