Then choose Capture screenshot for the visible viewport or Capture a full size screenshot for the whole page. This produces an iPhone-like view, not proof that the page behaves exactly as it would in iOS Safari.
Set up an iPhone-like viewport
- Open the page in Chrome. Navigate to the website you want to capture.
- Open DevTools. Use Chrome’s DevTools command or menu, then click Toggle device toolbar in the DevTools action bar. The page will appear in a simulated mobile viewport.
- Choose a device size. In the device toolbar, select a preset from Dimensions, or choose Responsive and enter the width and height you want. Preset availability can depend on which devices are enabled in DevTools Settings. See Chrome’s Devices settings.
- Check the device settings. Set orientation and device type as needed. If your test depends on device pixel ratio (DPR), enable its control and choose a value. A custom device can also specify width and height, with optional DPR, user-agent string, and device type. Chrome documents these controls in Simulate mobile devices with device mode.
Device presets and menus may vary by Chrome release. If you do not need a named device configuration, Responsive mode lets you set the viewport dimensions directly. Avoid calling the result an exact match for a particular iPhone unless you have selected and checked the relevant device settings.
Capture the viewport or the entire page
Open More options in the device toolbar and choose the command that matches what you need:

Chrome describes these capture options in its Device Mode documentation. A device frame is decorative; it does not make the emulation more accurate.

Understand what the screenshot does—and does not—show
Device Mode adjusts the browser’s presentation to approximate a mobile viewport. It can also simulate conditions such as CPU and network limits and selected sensor inputs, but it does not run the page on an iPhone. Chrome calls it a “first-order approximation” of how a page looks and feels on a mobile device. See Chrome’s Device Mode guidance.
That makes DevTools useful for checking responsive layout and producing a quick visual screenshot. It is not a substitute for checking iOS-specific behavior: emulation does not reproduce every difference in browser API support, CSS support, or mobile browser behavior. Chrome’s guidance on emulating and testing other browsers recommends a real-device check when those differences matter. For testing on physical hardware, Chrome points to Remote Debugging.

Common problems and fixes
- The page still looks like desktop. Confirm that Toggle device toolbar is on and that a mobile preset or intended Responsive dimensions are selected.
- The preset you expect is missing. Check DevTools Settings under Devices and enable the relevant preset, or use Responsive mode to enter dimensions directly. The available list can vary.
- The screenshot is cut off at the viewport. Use Capture a full size screenshot rather than Capture screenshot.
- The screenshot has no bezel. Turn on Show device frame before capturing; frame art is available only for supported device-specific modes.
- A layout differs from the target iPhone. Check dimensions, orientation, device type, and DPR. If the question is about iOS Safari behavior rather than layout, verify it on an actual iOS device.
Chrome may change menu labels or available presets between releases; the documentation linked above describes the controls without tying the workflow to a specific version.
