In Chrome DevTools, turn on Toggle device toolbar and select an iPhone 15 preset from Dimensions if your Chrome version includes one. If it does not, add a custom device using 393 × 852 CSS pixels, a 3.0 device pixel ratio (DPR), and the Mobile device type. Those dimensions are a third-party emulation reference, not an Apple-published browser viewport. Device Mode is useful for responsive checks, but it does not replace testing on an actual iPhone when you need to verify iOS Safari or hardware-specific behavior.

Set up the iPhone 15 viewport in Chrome DevTools

  1. Open the page you want to test in Chrome, then open DevTools. You can use Chrome’s Toggle device toolbar control in the DevTools action bar to enter Device Mode. See Chrome’s Device Mode guide if the controls are in a different place in your build.

  2. Open the device toolbar’s Dimensions menu. If an iPhone 15 option is available, select it.

  3. If the preset is missing, create a custom profile. Open the device list and choose Edit, or go to DevTools Settings > Devices. Choose Add custom device, enter a name such as “iPhone 15,” and set the profile values below. Chrome documents both routes in its Device Mode guide and Devices settings guide.

Yojaro 4Pack Silicone Suction Phone Case Mount, Silicon Adhesive Smartphones Stand Sticky, Hands-Free Phone Accessories Holder for Selfies and Videos (Black & White & Translucent & Light Pink)
    • 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
    • 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
    • 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
    • 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
    • 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)

Custom profile values

Setting Value What it represents
Width 393 CSS pixels Portrait viewport width in a third-party iPhone 15 emulation reference.
Height 852 CSS pixels Portrait viewport height in the same reference.
Device pixel ratio 3.0 Reference DPR for matching logical CSS pixels to device pixels.
Device type Mobile Enables a mobile-style device profile in Device Mode.

The 393 × 852 CSS-pixel viewport and DPR 3.0 are listed by YesViz’s iPhone 15 reference; they are practical emulation values, not an Apple guarantee. Chrome defines DPR as the ratio between physical hardware pixels and logical CSS pixels, and uses it when drawing on HiDPI displays.

Do not enter the iPhone’s physical screen resolution as its CSS viewport

Apple lists the iPhone 15 display as 2556 × 1179 physical pixels at 460 ppi. That is the hardware display specification, not the CSS viewport size to enter into DevTools. Use the CSS-pixel dimensions for responsive layout testing; use the DPR field separately to approximate the relationship between logical and physical pixels. Apple’s current iPhone 15 technical specifications identify the display, while the viewport values above come from YesViz.

Apple EarPods Headphones with USB-C Plug, Wired Ear Buds with Built-in Remote to Control Music, Phone Calls, and Volume
  • SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
  • HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
  • BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
  • COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
  • INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.

Use Device Mode to test more than portrait layout

Landscape and responsive breakpoints

Rotate the simulated viewport to inspect landscape behavior. To check a breakpoint, enable media-query visualization in the Device Mode toolbar and vary the viewport width across the breakpoint rather than relying on one fixed phone width. This helps show whether a layout changes at the width your CSS expects.

Network, CPU, and sensors

Device Mode includes network and CPU throttling controls, along with sensor overrides such as geolocation and orientation. These are useful for checking how a page responds under constrained conditions or to selected device inputs. They remain simulations on the desktop machine, not measurements of an iPhone’s actual performance or sensors.

Know what Chrome emulation can and cannot verify

Chrome describes Device Mode as a “first-order approximation” of how a page looks and performs on mobile. Your page still runs on the desktop computer; DevTools simulates selected mobile characteristics such as viewport dimensions, DPR, device type, and throttling. It does not turn desktop Chrome into iOS Safari.

Use emulation for quick responsive-layout checks, viewport-specific CSS, and preliminary mobile testing. Test on an actual iPhone and the target browser when a conclusion depends on iOS Safari behavior, touch interaction, mobile browser APIs, CSS support, or hardware performance. Chrome’s guidance on emulating and testing other browsers notes that emulators do not reproduce every browser API, CSS-support, and behavior difference; Chrome also advises running the page on a mobile device when in doubt.

If you need a captured image or PDF rather than an interactive DevTools session, ScreenshotNeo provides a website screenshot API and MCP server. Its request can return a screenshot in PNG, JPEG, or WebP, or a PDF. The example below captures a URL; it is not a DevTools iPhone viewport emulator, so use Chrome Device Mode for interactive viewport testing.

One cURL request:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. Before capture, it accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers indicate the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server includes tools for AI agents to take screenshots, inspect page information, and capture PDFs.

The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo’s free plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

What dimensions should I use for an iPhone 15 in Chrome DevTools?

For a portrait emulation profile, use 393 × 852 CSS pixels, DPR 3.0, and Mobile device type. The viewport and DPR are from a third-party reference, not Apple’s published specifications.

Is Chrome’s iPhone 15 preset the same as testing on an iPhone?

No. Device Mode simulates selected mobile characteristics while the page runs on your desktop computer. Use a real iPhone and the target browser to confirm platform-specific behavior.

Why is Apple’s iPhone 15 resolution different from the DevTools dimensions?

Apple’s 2556 × 1179 figure is physical display resolution. DevTools viewport fields use CSS pixels; DPR expresses the relationship between physical pixels and logical CSS pixels.
