Survive a Million Monkeys uses two currencies rather than one general coin balance: Cash helps you upgrade during a run, while Gems unlock Weapons and Classes in the hub for future runs. To progress without codes, defeat monkeys, spend Cash to stay alive longer, then use the Gems earned at the end of each run on permanent unlocks.
How the two currencies work
The Roblox listing describes choosing a class and unlocking guns, but does not explain ordinary gameplay rewards. The currency loop below is reported by AllThingsHow’s beginner guide, updated October 6, 2026.
| Currency | How you earn it | Where it is spent | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cash | Defeat monkeys during a run. | In that run: weapon-tier and health upgrades, grenades, and barricades. | Temporary; it applies to the current run. |
| Gems | Earned after a run, with rewards based on monkeys and waves cleared. | In the hub: unlock Weapons and Classes. | Persistent progression for later runs. |
The game’s official Roblox listing confirms the experience and its broad class-and-gun progression, but does not document these payout mechanics. The detailed loop is described in the AllThingsHow beginner guide.
Earn and spend Cash during a run
Each monkey you defeat adds Cash, according to the guide. Use it to make the current attempt more survivable rather than saving it for a later run: Cash is temporary.

The guide reports these keyboard controls: V upgrades the weapon, C upgrades health, G throws a grenade, and X places a barricade. Q activates the Ultimate. Controls may vary by device or change with an update, so check the in-game prompts if a key does not work.
Make a run last long enough to earn more Gems
The guide says your post-run Gem reward depends on monkeys and waves cleared. That makes survival and progress through the run your route to persistent currency; it does not establish a fixed reward per wave or a guaranteed Gem total.

Weapon unlocks
The guide describes four in-run weapon tiers and says Gems unlock stronger hub weapon options within those tiers. It recommends prioritizing higher-tier weapons so you spend less time using the starting handgun. Treat that as the guide’s suggested approach, not an official developer rule; the best choice depends on your play style and available options.
Class unlocks
The guide names Survivor, Medic, Engineer, Juggernaut, Bomber, and Outlaw as classes unlocked with Gems in the hub. It does not establish a universally strongest class. Choose based on the kind of run you want to play rather than assuming one class is best for everyone.
