Where to download TinyTask
Use the official TinyTask download page.
The page currently lists TinyTask 1.77 and labels the download formats EXE and ZIP, with editions named With Editor, Micro, and Standard. The dossier does not describe feature differences among those editions. If you are unsure which package to choose, TinyTask’s official FAQ recommends the standalone tinytask.exe.

The standalone EXE is portable, but TinyTask is not limited to a no-install option: its official FAQ also documents the separate tinytask_setup.exe installer.

How to download and run the portable EXE
- Open the official TinyTask download page.
- Find the TinyTask 1.77 download area.
- Choose the EXE download and select
tinytask.exeif you want the simplest option. - Wait for the browser download to finish.
- Open your browser’s Downloads folder. In most browsers, press
Ctrl + Jto view recent downloads, then select Show in folder. - Double-click
tinytask.exe.
The standalone EXE runs without an installation wizard. You can open it from the Downloads folder or move it to another folder first. TinyTask is a 32-bit Windows application; the official site provides Windows downloads, not a macOS installer.
How to install TinyTask with the setup file
Choose the setup package if you want TinyTask to behave like a normally installed Windows program.
- Download
tinytask_setup.exefrom the official TinyTask download page. - Open the downloaded file from your browser’s Downloads folder.
- Follow the installer prompts.
- Allow the installer to place TinyTask in its Program Files folder.
- Open TinyTask from the Start Menu. You can also choose to create a desktop icon if the option is offered.
The installer includes an uninstall capability. By contrast, the standalone portable EXE can simply be deleted when you no longer need it.
How to extract the ZIP version
The ZIP download contains tinytask.exe in compressed form. Windows can extract it without a separate archive utility:
- Download
tinytask.zip. - Double-click the ZIP file to open it.
- Extract or copy
tinytask.exeto a normal folder, such asDocuments\TinyTask. - Double-click the extracted EXE to run TinyTask.
Extract the executable before running it; the ZIP archive itself is not the application.

How to record a task in TinyTask
TinyTask records actions such as mouse movement, clicks, and keyboard input. Before recording, open the application or document you want to control and make sure the required window is visible.
- Open TinyTask.
- Bring the target application to the foreground and arrange it as needed.
- Use TinyTask’s multi-use toolbar button to start recording.
- Perform the mouse and keyboard actions you want to repeat.
- Press the same button again to stop recording.
The official Support page lists the default recording shortcut as Ctrl + Alt + Shift + R. Press it once to begin recording and again to stop.
Keep the recording short and deliberate. Avoid clicking unrelated windows, moving the target window, or entering information that changes between runs. TinyTask records screen interaction rather than understanding the underlying task, so a click at one screen position may fail if the window later moves.
How to play a recording
- Open the application that should receive the recorded actions.
- Place it visibly in the foreground.
- Start playback from TinyTask or use the default playback shortcut,
Ctrl + Shift + Alt + P. - Avoid using the mouse or keyboard while playback is running unless the recording requires it.
You can change the playback shortcut through Prefs → Playback hotkey. TinyTask can run in the foreground or background, but it interacts only with visible foreground applications. It is a GUI automation tool, not a batch processor or general script-execution engine.
How to stop TinyTask playback immediately
Test a recording with a harmless action before using it on important files or accounts. If playback starts doing something unexpected, TinyTask supports these emergency keys:

The official Support page warns against using Escape as the emergency-stop key because it is commonly used during ordinary recordings.
If a stop key does not work, another application may have captured the keyboard or interfered with TinyTask’s hotkey detection. Keep the target application visible and test the emergency controls before relying on an automated sequence.

The download is saved but TinyTask will not open
Confirm that you downloaded the Windows EXE rather than a ZIP file. If you selected the ZIP version, extract tinytask.exe before opening it. Also check whether Windows Security or another security program has blocked the file. Only use a copy obtained from the official TinyTask site, and do not disable security protections casually.
I cannot find the downloaded file
Press Ctrl + J in your browser to open the download list, then select Show in folder. The file will normally be in your user Downloads folder unless your browser is configured to ask for a save location.
The recording clicks the wrong place
TinyTask replays visible interface actions. Put the target window in the same position and size used during recording, keep the relevant controls visible, and avoid changing display scaling or monitor arrangements between recording and playback. The official Support page notes that TinyTask interacts only with visible foreground applications.

Playback does not stop with the hotkey
Try Break, ScrollLock, or Pause. If none works, another program may be intercepting the keyboard. You can also review Prefs → Playback hotkey and assign a different combination that is not already used by another application.
TinyTask version information
The official homepage and download page currently identify TinyTask 1.77 as the newest version. The download page does not show a release date for 1.77, so do not infer one from the site.
Recent entries in the official revision history include:
- Version 1.75: Fixed a rare toolbar redraw issue, adjusted binary output in an attempt to reduce scanner false positives, changed build rules for multilingual deployment, and updated the toolchain.
- Version 1.74: Added French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swedish versions; fixed termination of compiled EXEs when stopped interactively; and added emergency-stop hints to the playback-key menu.
- Version 1.73: Reverted
.recfile associations from automatic playback to simple Open File behavior for safety. - Version 1.72: Fixed saved and compiled Play Speed settings, fixed problems stopping playback at 100× speed, and added a file-association option through
TinyTaskSetup.exe.
Be cautious with third-party pages that advertise “TinyTask Pro v3.1.” That version claim is not supported by the official TinyTask site reviewed for this guide; the official site lists TinyTask 1.77.

Download TinyTask from the official site rather than an unverified mirror. As with any automation tool, review what a recording will click and type before running it, especially if it can delete files, submit forms, or enter account information.

The official Support page states that TinyTask has no formal technical support available at this time and that the page is still being developed. If a recording fails, first check the target window’s position, whether it is visibly in the foreground, the playback hotkey, and the emergency-stop keys.
