To install Chrome on a Windows PC without downloading the installer on that PC, download the official Chrome Enterprise MSI on a connected computer, transfer the file to the target using an approved method, and run the local MSI. Google offers the installer at no cost; “Enterprise” refers to Chrome’s management tools and controls, not a separate paid browser edition.
Download the official Windows MSI
- On a connected computer, open Google’s Chrome Enterprise download page.
- In the Windows download controls, select the channel, file type, and architecture for your deployment. Google lists Stable and Beta channels and MSI and bundle file types. The live page determines the current version and download size, so check it there rather than relying on a fixed figure.
- Choose MSI for the installer alone. Choose bundle if you also need deployment components such as policy and preferences templates, the auto-updates template, or legacy browser support files. Google says individual bundle files can also be downloaded separately; its bundle guide describes 32-bit and 64-bit bundles.
- Accept Google’s terms and download the selected file. Confirm that the architecture matches the target environment.
Install Chrome from a local MSI
“Offline” here means the target PC can run an installer file already stored locally, without browsing to Google’s download site to get that file. Google does not identify a special offline-only Chrome edition or prescribe a particular transfer method. Download the MSI on a connected machine, transfer it to the target using an organization-approved method, and run it there.
Run the installer interactively
On the target Windows PC, open the transferred MSI and follow the installer prompts. If using a command line, replace the example filename with the actual path and filename of the downloaded MSI.

msiexec /q /l GoogleChrome.msiGoogleChrome.msi is an example filename, not a required name. Use the actual MSI path and filename in your deployment command. Google also lists distribution through Active Directory Group Policy Management, HP Client Automation, and Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager in its deployment and testing guidance.
Choose the package and deployment settings

Check version compatibility before rollout
Google warns that an older Chrome version cannot be installed over a newer one; the MSI must be newer than the Chrome version already deployed on the target. Check the target’s current version before choosing the installer. Google also says the MSI installation can override a user-installed version of Chrome, so include existing installations and the intended install context in your test plan.
Google’s troubleshooting guidance says older versions are not available through its normal download process and that the latest Stable version is available. Do not assume the official download page can supply a particular older MSI.

Test the installation and policies
Install on a small test group before deploying broadly. On each test computer, inspect chrome://policy to confirm that expected policies appear. If policies or settings are missing, Google recommends running:
gpupdate /forceIf the installer encounters a firewall update check
Google notes that Google Update attempts to check for an update during installation by default, and that this check may fail at a firewall. For that specific troubleshooting case, Google documents this command:
