AION 2 is live globally as of October 5, 2026. On a Windows PC, install it either from its official Steam listing or through NCSOFT’s PURPLE launcher. Both routes access the same game content and servers; choose based on which launcher you prefer and whether you want to use the same character and progress on both.
Before you download: check your PC
The Steam listing specifies Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), DirectX 12, broadband internet and 100 GB of available storage. An SSD is recommended. These are the requirements listed on Steam as of October 7, 2026; check the listing again before installing because requirements can change.

Steam notes that its minimum and recommended tiers target low graphics presets at FHD. The listed specifications are a starting point, not a promise of a particular frame rate.
Install AION 2 through Steam
- Open the official AION 2 Steam page and sign in to Steam.
- Choose the install option on the listing and follow Steam’s prompts to select an installation location.
- Allow the download and installation to finish, then launch AION 2 from your Steam library.
The global service’s supported PC route includes Steam on Windows. If Steam has an older AION 2 Playtest app in your library, the official launch notice says to uninstall that separate Playtest app and download the live game separately. This does not mean you should reinstall the current retail game.

Install AION 2 through PURPLE
- Go to NCSOFT’s official PURPLE download page and download the launcher.
- Install PURPLE using the downloaded PurpleInstaller, then open the launcher and sign in with the appropriate account.
- Select AION 2 in PURPLE and follow the launcher’s prompts to download and install the game.
The exact launcher screens and button labels may change, so use the current prompts shown in PURPLE rather than relying on older screenshots or instructions.
Choose between Steam and PURPLE
The official global launch FAQ says Steam and PURPLE players have the same in-game content and share servers. Neither route provides a gameplay-content advantage. Choose the launcher that suits your account and setup:

- Choose Steam if you already use Steam and want to install and launch the game there.
- Choose PURPLE if you prefer NCSOFT’s launcher or want to use PURPLE as your game platform.
- Link accounts only for cross-platform continuity. You can play on Steam without linking a PURPLE account. Link them if you want the same character and progress available through both platforms.
What to know about compatibility and preload files
The officially supported global PC platforms are Steam and PURPLE on Windows. Linux and Steam Deck are not official support targets, and controller support is not official. Other devices may be playable, but the official FAQ does not establish support for them.
If you pre-downloaded the game and its files are encrypted before access opens, Steam’s notice says the client decrypts them once access is available. That process is not a reinstallation. It applies to a preload or delayed-unlock situation, not a routine install.
