Check your Windows architecture
- Open Settings in Windows.
- Select System, then About.
- Under Device specifications, find System type. Match the Windows architecture shown there to x64, x86 (32-bit), or ARM64 on the download page.
If you are unsure whether your device uses ARM, follow the system type shown in Windows rather than guessing from the device brand or model.
How do I download and install 7-Zip?
- Go to the official 7-Zip download page.
- Find the current Windows release and select the recommended EXE link for your system architecture: x64, x86, or ARM64.
- When the download completes, open the downloaded installer and follow its prompts to install. The installer’s controls can vary by release.

What can 7-Zip open and create?
7-Zip is a file archiver for creating compressed archives and extracting files from archives. The official format list distinguishes formats it can both pack and unpack from formats it can only unpack.
