Snapchat’s support documentation says Cameos in Chat are no longer available, and it provides no replacement workflow.
The old instructions to open a Chat, tap the sticker or smiley icon, choose Cameos, and send a two-person design are outdated. Updating the app or changing settings will not restore the unavailable Chat feature.
Can you still do Cameos with friends on Snapchat?
No. Snapchat does not currently provide a verified way to make or send Cameos with friends in Chat. Its support page explicitly states: “Cameos in Chat are no longer available.”
This is a feature change, not normally an account or phone problem. If the Cameos button is absent, reinstalling Snapchat, changing permissions, or opening a different conversation will not bring the Chat feature back.

Why the old Cameos instructions no longer work
Many guides still describe this process:
- Open a Chat with a friend.
- Tap the sticker, smiley, or emoji button beside the message field.
- Choose Cameos.
- Select a Cameo featuring two people.
- Send it in the conversation.
That was the former workflow, but it is outdated. Snapchat now marks Cameos in Chat as unavailable, so the Cameos category may not appear in the Chat sticker panel.
Is there a replacement for two-person Cameos?
Snapchat has not published a replacement workflow for creating or sending a Cameo with a friend in Chat. It also has not announced an end-of-support date or a launch date for a replacement.
The current support information only says that Snapchat is upgrading other experiences powered by My Selfie. That statement does not provide a way to make a two-person Cameo, so be cautious with guides claiming that a particular menu, account switch, or app version restores the feature.

What to check if other Snapchat features are also failing
General troubleshooting is worthwhile if stickers, messages, or other Snapchat tools are malfunctioning. It will not restore Cameos in Chat, because that feature is documented as unavailable, but it can help with unrelated app problems.
| Step | What to do |
|---|---|
| Update the app | Install the latest Snapchat version from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store. |
| Close Snapchat | Completely close the app, then open it again. |
| Restart the device | Power your iPhone or Android phone off and on. |
| Check the connection | Try a reliable Wi-Fi or mobile-data connection. |
After these steps, the Cameos option should still be expected to be missing from Chat. These steps apply to general app faults, not to a feature Snapchat has marked unavailable.

What you can do instead
You can continue using Snapchat’s other available messaging tools, such as ordinary text messages, Snaps, stickers, and any lenses or creative features currently shown in your app. These are alternatives for sending something fun in a conversation, not a current replacement for a two-person Cameo.
There is no confirmed current menu path for creating a friend Cameo in Chat. Avoid unofficial downloads, modified Snapchat clients, or websites that ask for your Snapchat login to “restore” Cameos. They cannot re-enable a feature Snapchat has marked unavailable and can put your account or personal information at risk.
