Windows 11 does not consistently offer a normal Uninstall button for Phone Link. Microsoft describes Phone Link as deeply integrated into Windows 10 and Windows 11 and says it cannot be uninstalled through the standard supported interface.
If you only want to stop the connection to your phone, sign out on both the Windows PC and the phone. If you want to remove the app package anyway, an administrator PowerShell command may do it, but Microsoft presents that command in a Microsoft Q&A answer—not in its official support article.
Choose between disconnecting and removing Phone Link

How to disable Phone Link without uninstalling it
Microsoft’s supported way to stop the connection is to sign out of Phone Link on both the PC and the phone. Removing the device from only one side is not enough.
1. Sign out on the Windows 11 PC
- Open Phone Link from the Start menu.
- Select Settings.
- Open Devices.
- Find the Microsoft account signed in to Phone Link and select Sign out.
2. Sign out on Android
The exact path depends on whether Link to Windows came preinstalled on the phone.

For phones with the preinstalled Link to Windows app:
- Open the phone’s Settings.
- Go to Connected Devices > Link to Windows > About Link to Windows.
- Select the Microsoft account.
- Scroll to Link to Windows and select Remove account.
For phones using the downloaded Link to Windows app:
- Open Link to Windows.
- Open Settings.
- Select Accounts.
- Choose the Microsoft account and select Sign out.
After signing out on both devices, Microsoft says the device is removed from the connection. Phone Link will no longer provide PC-side access to synchronized phone content, notifications, SMS messaging, or calls. To use it again, sign in and complete the pairing process.
Why the Settings uninstall option may be missing
Some Windows 11 guides show this path:
Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Phone Link > … > Uninstall

That path is not universally valid. The three-dot menu may not contain Uninstall, or the control may be disabled. Microsoft’s current explanation is that Phone Link is integrated into Windows for cross-device features and cannot be uninstalled normally. Its support article applies to both Windows 10 and Windows 11 and does not provide a Settings-based removal procedure.

This behavior is not documented as being limited to a particular Windows 11 edition. The official explanation does not distinguish between Home, Pro, Enterprise, and Education.
How to remove Phone Link with PowerShell
If signing out is not enough and the Settings option is unavailable, you can try removing the Appx package from an elevated PowerShell window. This is a community-provided procedure published in Microsoft Q&A, not an uninstall method documented in Microsoft’s official Phone Link support article.
- Open Start.
- Type PowerShell.
- Right-click Windows PowerShell or PowerShell and select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
- Paste this command exactly and press Enter:
Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.YourPhone -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage

After the command completes, check the Start menu and search for Phone Link. If it is still present, restart Windows and check again. PowerShell output and behavior can vary depending on the Windows build, package state, and account permissions.

What removal affects
Removing the package removes the PC side of Phone Link. You will no longer be able to use Phone Link in Windows to:
- Synchronize the phone with the PC
- View phone notifications on the PC
- Send SMS messages from the PC
- Make calls from the PC through the phone connection
This does not turn off or uninstall the separate Link to Windows component on the phone. If you want the account connection removed as well, sign out on the PC and phone before or after attempting package removal.

If you change your mind, Microsoft Q&A lists two recovery options.
Option 1: Install it from Microsoft Store
- Open Microsoft Store.
- Search for Phone Link.
- Open the Phone Link listing and choose Get or Install.
Option 2: Register the existing package
If the package files still exist but the app is no longer registered correctly, open PowerShell as administrator and run:
Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.YourPhone -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

This command registers the existing installation; it does not download a new copy. If the package was completely removed, use Microsoft Store instead.

Common problems and limitations
The Uninstall button is missing or disabled
This is expected on some Windows 11 installations because Microsoft treats Phone Link as an integrated Windows component rather than an ordinary removable app. Do not assume that a guide showing the Installed apps path applies to your installation.
The PowerShell command does not remove Phone Link
A command that targets only the current user can fail when Phone Link is installed for another account or provisioned system-wide. The current Microsoft Q&A procedure uses -AllUsers. Even then, the command is not guaranteed by Microsoft’s official support article, so results can differ between Windows builds and package states.
Phone Link comes back later
Community reports associate the app returning with Windows or Microsoft Store servicing and reinstallation. The cited Microsoft sources do not document a supported policy that permanently blocks Phone Link from being reinstalled. If it returns and you do not want the connection, use the sign-out procedure on both devices again.

For most users, sign out on the PC and phone rather than forcing package removal. It is reversible, follows Microsoft’s documented device-removal process, and avoids breaking an integrated Windows component. Use the administrator PowerShell command only when you specifically want to remove the Windows package and accept that Phone Link features will stop working until it is installed or registered again.

No. The PowerShell command removes the Windows package. The separate Link to Windows app or component on the phone is not removed.
