Activity Log covers different kinds of data—posts, photos, videos, likes, reactions, comments, searches, tags, logins and other actions—and each category has its own controls.
The closest bulk-delete feature is Manage Activity. It can select multiple eligible posts, photos and videos in the Facebook mobile app and move them to Trash. It cannot erase all likes, comments, searches, login records or every other Activity Log entry at once.
What you can delete in bulk with Manage Activity
Facebook’s Manage Activity tool is available to some users in the Android, iPhone and Facebook Lite apps. Facebook’s current documentation says it is not available for managing content from a computer.
- Open the Facebook app.
- Tap Menu in the top-right.
- Tap your name to open your profile.
- Tap Options below your profile picture.
- Tap Activity log.
- Open Manage Activity.
- Select the eligible posts, photos or videos.
- Tap Move to Trash.
Depending on the app version, Facebook may call this location Trash or Recycle bin. You may also see filters for date, activity type or the people associated with an item.

Trash does not mean immediate deletion
Facebook keeps items in Trash for up to 30 days. During that period, you can restore them, move them to Archive or delete them before the automatic deletion date.
To remove eligible content immediately:
- Return to Activity log.
- Tap Trash or Recycle bin.
- Select the items.
- Choose Delete, Delete permanently or the equivalent option shown in your app.
- Confirm.
After Facebook automatically deletes an item—or you permanently delete it yourself—it cannot be restored through Facebook.
Archive is not deletion
Archive hides selected content from everyone except you, but Facebook still stores it and lets you restore it later. Use Archive for privacy or cleanup, not when you need permanent deletion.
Delete likes, reactions and comments separately
Likes, reactions and comments appear under interaction-related sections of Activity Log. They are not all handled by Manage Activity. Depending on the item, Facebook may offer Unlike, Remove reaction or Delete.
On the Facebook website:
- Click your profile picture in the top-right.
- Choose Settings & Privacy, then Activity log.
- Open Your activity across Facebook, Interactions or the relevant category.
- Filter by Date or Activity type.
- Open the item’s Options menu.
- Choose the available action, such as Delete, Unlike or Remove reaction.
Facebook does not document one universal bulk-delete command for every interaction category. If an entry has no Delete option, Facebook may only allow you to undo the interaction, remove a tag or hide the item from your profile.

Clear Facebook search history
Searches have their own clearing control and are not removed by deleting posts or using Manage Activity.
From the desktop website
- Click your profile picture.
- Go to Settings & Privacy > Activity log.
- Click Logged information in the left menu.
- Click Search, then Your search history.
- Click Clear searches.
- Confirm the action.
From Facebook’s search bar
- Click the Facebook search bar.
- Click Edit in the recent-search dropdown.
- Click Clear Searches next to Search History.
Cleared searches can occasionally remain visible temporarily. Facebook recommends logging out and back in if the old results continue to appear.
Remove tags and hidden posts
Tagged posts and photos
Removing a tag does not delete the original post or photo. It only removes the connection between your account and that content. The post can remain visible to its original audience.
In the mobile app, look in Activity Log for Activity you’re tagged in. Facebook provides Manage Activity options for removing tags from eligible items on Android, iPhone and Facebook Lite.
Posts hidden from your profile
Hide from profile is not deletion. A hidden post may still appear in Feed, Search or elsewhere to the audience that could already see it. Delete the original post when Facebook gives you that option, and remember that other people may have shared or copied it.

Stories, messages and other records
Activity Log does not contain every type of Facebook or Meta content. Stories, Facebook messages and Messenger messages may require separate deletion controls. Login records and some other logged information also do not have a general “delete everything” control.
This is why clearing posts and photos does not produce an empty Activity Log: the log is a collection of categories, not one removable database entry.
Do not confuse off-Meta activity with Facebook Activity Log
Older guides often recommend this path:
Settings & Privacy > Settings > Accounts Center > Your information and permissions > Your activity off Meta technologies > Clear previous activity
That advice is outdated for people covered by Meta’s 2026 rollout. On June 9, 2026, Meta announced that it was discontinuing the Your activity off Meta technologies control in the United States and several other countries beginning in July 2026, with other countries following later. The replacement, Activity from other businesses, controls how Meta uses activity sent by businesses for personalization and advertising.
It is not a universal deletion command for Facebook posts, comments, reactions, searches or Activity Log entries. If the older setting is still visible on your account, its availability depends on your region and rollout status; it should not be treated as an all-history reset.
The only built-in option that removes the account’s Facebook content
If you mean “remove everything associated with this Facebook account,” rather than selectively clean the Activity Log, account deletion is the closest built-in nuclear option.

Facebook says you can cancel the deletion by logging in within 30 days. After that period, the account and its information are permanently deleted, although removing all posted material can take up to 90 days. Backup copies may remain longer for disaster recovery, legal, security or policy reasons.
Account deletion is not an instant history-clearing command. It removes the account and starts Facebook’s deletion process, so download anything you need before confirming.
Why some activity may not disappear
| What you are trying to remove | Correct control | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Posts, photos and videos | Manage Activity | Mobile app; Trash may retain items for 30 days |
| Likes and reactions | Unlike or Remove reaction | Usually handled item by item or by category |
| Comments | Delete from Interactions | No universal delete-all control |
| Searches | Clear searches | Separate search-history control |
| Tags | Remove tag | Does not delete the original post or photo |
| Hidden posts | Delete the original post | Hide from profile leaves it visible elsewhere |
| Messages and stories | Use their own controls | Not all are included in Manage Activity |
| Everything tied to the account | Delete account | 30-day cancellation window; deletion may take up to 90 days |
Other common problems include an unavailable Manage Activity button, older entries that do not appear in the selected category, and activity that was copied or reshared by someone else. Activity Log categories and available actions can change, and Facebook does not expose every logged action for user deletion.

FAQ
Can I delete my entire Facebook Activity Log with one click?
No. Facebook does not provide a single Delete all activity history button. Manage Activity handles selected eligible posts, photos and videos, while searches, reactions, comments, tags and other records use separate controls.
Best Value
Does Manage Activity delete likes and comments?
Not as a universal bulk action. Likes, reactions and comments are generally handled from the relevant Activity Log category using Unlike, Remove reaction or Delete.
Are items in Facebook Trash permanently deleted?
Not immediately. Facebook normally keeps them for up to 30 days. You can delete them earlier from Trash, or wait for automatic deletion.
What is the difference between Archive and Trash?
Archive hides content from other people but keeps it stored and restorable. Trash schedules it for deletion and normally removes it after up to 30 days.
Will removing a tag delete the post?
No. Removing a tag only disconnects your account from the post or photo. The original content can remain visible to its existing audience.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Does clearing Facebook search history delete all Facebook activity?
No. It only clears searches. Posts, interactions, tags, messages and other Activity Log categories are separate.
What is the fastest way to remove all Facebook content?
Delete the Facebook account through Settings & Privacy, Settings, Your Facebook information, and Deactivation and deletion. You can cancel within 30 days, and Facebook says full deletion can take up to 90 days.
The Bottom Line
Use Manage Activity in the mobile Facebook app for bulk cleanup of eligible posts, photos and videos, then empty Trash if you do not want to wait 30 days. Clear searches separately, remove reactions and comments from their own Activity Log categories, and handle tags, stories and messages through their specific controls. There is no built-in one-click way to erase every Facebook activity record; deleting the account is the only broad account-level option.
