To customize an Overwatch Mythic skin, open that skin’s preview and select from the options it offers; the available choices vary by item and may be tied to progression tiers. Blizzard’s official pages describe those customization options, but do not confirm a named favorite or preset feature. Selecting a look and saving it as a reusable preset are different things, so don’t assume the game offers a preset button or a particular save-and-reapply workflow.
How Mythic customization works
Start with the specific Mythic skin or weapon you want to change. Its own preview is the reliable place to check which components and refinements are available; not every Mythic has the same options.
Blizzard described a revised tier approach beginning in Season 19: Tier 1 provides the complete Mythic skin design, while later tiers unlock refinements such as alternate components, colorways, and ambient visual-effect toggles. That description applies to the revised system and should not be assumed to cover every older Mythic. Check the selected item’s preview for its actual tiers and choices. What options can a Mythic offer?
The following are examples, not a standard menu shared by all Mythics. Blizzard’s Season 22 examples illustrate how skin and weapon customization can differ:

| Mythic item | Options described by Blizzard |
|---|---|
| Volted Overdrive Soldier: 76 skin | Level 1: ability VFX toggle. Level 2: additional hairstyles. Level 3: red/black and white/blue colorways. Level 4: ambient VFX toggle. |
| Genji’s Sumi-ichimonji weapon skin | Level 1: weapon design. Level 2: reactive visuals. Level 3: two flourish animations. Level 4: kill VFX. |
These Season 22 examples show why it is worth checking the item itself: a Hero skin may offer model or color choices, while a weapon skin may include reactive effects, flourishes, or an elimination effect. Blizzard’s Season 22 announcement
Cyber Fuel Junkrat is another item-specific example from the Season 19 midcycle announcement: it begins in its full Mythic form and can be refined with colorways, tire choices, and an ambient glow. Those options should not be treated as universal features. Blizzard’s Season 19 midcycle announcement

How to choose a variant without assuming a preset system
- Open the selected Mythic’s preview in the current game. Use the in-game item view to inspect the skin or weapon and its listed tiers. The official announcements establish the role of the preview and tiers, but do not provide a verified current-client menu path.
- Review the choices shown for that item. Note which options are already available and which require additional progression or unlocks, as indicated in the client.
- Select the combination you want in the preview. Confirm how the game displays the active choices and whether the combination is equipped; do not confuse choosing options with saving a separate preset.
- Check for a named save or preset control before relying on one. The official pages cited here do not document a feature for naming, saving, or quickly reapplying a favorite combination. If the current client offers such a control, follow its on-screen instructions; otherwise, do not expect a reusable named preset.
What is—and is not—confirmed about saving favorites
Blizzard’s official announcements explain unlockable customization, but the sources cited here do not establish whether the current client lets players save a chosen combination as a named favorite or preset. They also do not confirm a button label, preset limit, or persistence behavior. Selecting and equipping a combination is not proof that the game has saved it as a reusable preset.
Because the exact behavior can only be established in the live client, inspect the selected item’s controls rather than relying on an unverified Hero Gallery path or instructions for a different version. If no save control appears, the available evidence does not support claiming that a favorite can be stored and reapplied as a preset.

Mythic Prism costs and availability depend on the season
Do not use older Mythic Shop prices as universal current guidance. In Blizzard’s April 2024 explanation, the then-current model was 50 Mythic Prisms for a base Mythic unlock, 10 for each of three additional levels, and 80 total to unlock all then-available levels. Blizzard also described earning up to 80 Prisms by completing that season’s Premium Battle Pass. These figures describe the 2024 rules, not guaranteed current prices or availability. Season-specific rewards can change too: Blizzard’s Season 17 announcement said that season’s Premium Battle Pass could award up to 80 Mythic Prisms. Check the selected item and current in-game shop for today’s cost, availability, and progression requirements. Blizzard’s Season 17 announcement
