If you want fewer motion effects instead, use the Accessibility setting for Reduce animations. These are different controls, and neither requires installing unsupported system tweaks.
How do I change the animations on my Galaxy Z Fold?
For a more expressive transition when you swipe from an app back to the home screen, check Samsung’s Good Lock > Home Up > Gesture Settings menu. Samsung describes Home Gesture Animation as controlling that app-to-home transition, with preset styles and an Advanced Tuning option for finer adjustments such as speed and vibration. Samsung’s Home Up overview was published on April 9, 2025, and its examples focus on One UI 7; it does not guarantee the option on every Fold model or software release.
Use Home Up when the option is available
- Update the phone and Samsung apps. Check for a system update, then update Good Lock and Home Up through the update channels available on your device. Samsung’s Fold gesture troubleshooting guidance also recommends checking software and Galaxy Store app updates when swipe behavior is incorrect: Fix touch function issues on Galaxy Fold with swipe gestures.
- Open the animation controls. Launch Good Lock, open Home Up, and select Gesture Settings. Look for Home Gesture Animation or Home Gesture Animation Tuning.
- Choose a preset or tune it. If tuning is offered, start with a preset. For more control, open Advanced Tuning and adjust one setting at a time, keeping changes that still feel clear and responsive.
Preset choices can differ by software context: Samsung’s feature overview describes four styles, while a Samsung community post lists six for its own context. The count is not a reliable universal guide, so use the options actually shown on your phone.
If you cannot find Home Gesture Animation
Do not assume your Fold is broken or install an unsupported modification to force the effect. Confirm that the phone, Good Lock, and Home Up are current, then check Samsung’s current guidance for your device and software. Samsung documents Good Lock gesture settings in Fold troubleshooting, but that does not establish that this particular animation control is enabled for every Fold generation, region, One UI version, or Home Up release. The available documentation does not provide a complete Fold compatibility matrix.

How can I reduce animations instead?
If your goal is fewer motion effects—not a different app-to-home transition—use Settings > Accessibility > Vision enhancements > Reduce animations. This route is documented in Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold6 user guide, revision dated August 14, 2024. Menu names or locations may differ on later software.

Samsung’s One UI motion documentation says durations should be at least 100 ms to remain recognizable and should not exceed 500 ms to avoid interfering with subsequent tasks. Those figures are design guidance, not a user-facing slider range or a promise that changing animation settings makes the phone faster or improves battery life.
