Use AION 2’s built-in skill macro for a short sequence of predictable actions, and keep decisions that depend on timing, targets, movement, or danger under your direct control. The macro described in current community guides tries listed skills from top to bottom while you hold its assigned key, then repeats; it stops when you release the key. No macro setup can guarantee that every action will fire or that a particular combat-macro pattern is permitted in every region.
How the built-in skill macro works
Current community guides describe a skill macro that attempts its listed actions in order while its assigned key is held. When it reaches the end, it repeats the sequence; releasing the key stops it. Because earlier entries are tried first, the order affects what the macro attempts when several skills are available.
To configure one, open the Skill screen, add actions in the order you want them attempted, set step delays, and bind the macro to a key. Then test it on a training dummy. A current guide says each of the three skill presets has its own macro, but interface labels and options may change with patches or differ by region. Choose actions that are safe to repeat
A macro is most useful when its job is narrow and its actions remain sensible across repeated attempts. Favor skills that are frequently used, predictable, and unlikely to cause trouble if they fire as soon as they are available.

- Deterministic chain steps that do not require a fresh decision each time.
- Simple filler actions that are useful when higher-priority skills are unavailable.
Put the highest-priority skill first and a lower-priority filler later, then check whether activations are being skipped. A sequence that looks sensible on paper may behave differently in combat because of timing, range, animation, or target changes.
Keep judgment-sensitive actions manual
Do not put an action in a repeating sequence if firing it at the wrong moment could waste a crucial cooldown, miss a target, or leave you exposed. Keep these available for deliberate use when they depend on circumstances:

- Interrupts and hard control.
- Positioning tools, reactive dodges or blocks, and PvP dashes or leaps.
- Long burst cooldowns, charged skills, and actions whose value depends on a buff window.
In PvE, a boss mechanic, range change, or target swap can make a fixed sequence inappropriate. In PvP, a mistimed escape or gap closer can be especially costly. These are practical rules of thumb, not a tested rotation for any particular class.
Build separate expectations for PvE and PvP
One sequence should not be assumed to perform the same job in both modes. Evaluate it against the content and build where you plan to use it.

NCSOFT said on March 25, 2026, that it had separated PvP and PvE damage calculations and adjusted balance between certain skills. That update is a reason to assess a sequence in its intended mode and current build; it does not prescribe a macro rotation. Read NCSOFT’s March 25, 2026 update announcement.
Use conservative delays and test what actually fires
There is no established delay that is optimal for every client, skill, or connection. A current community guide reports different approaches—matching delay to ping or using a low value—and advises increasing it if actions drop. Another guide lists a 10 ms minimum for its referenced live region, but explicitly cautions that this does not ensure every action will activate cleanly. Do not treat that regional minimum as a universal setting or a recommended target.

- Give the macro one clear job and begin with a short sequence.
- Test it on the same target and build you intend to use. Watch for skills that fail to activate or repeat reliably.
- If actions are skipped, increase the delay and test again rather than assuming the lowest available value is best.
- Check behavior after moving, losing range, switching targets, and releasing the macro key.
- Re-test after a relevant balance, animation, queue, interface, or client update.
A community workshop suggests comparing a 60-second manual run with a macro run. That is a possible test method, not proof that a macro improves damage. Compare reliability and control as well as damage, and do not assume a result from one character or situation applies to another. The guide also recommends starting short, testing per character, and checking the live client after updates; regional details should be verified in the client you actually use.

NCSOFT’s January 28, 2026 announcement described expanded anti-bot measures and said the minimum level for gathering was raised to level 45 “to further limit the use of automated gathering macros.” The same announcement mentioned mouse-click cancellation of basic attacks as a smoother skill-use feature. These statements concern botting and gathering automation; they do not define every permissible combat-macro pattern or guarantee that any combat macro is safe. A third-party policy guide, updated September 19, 2026, says actively used skill-weaving macros are tolerated and distinguishes them from AFK macros, scripts, and unauthorized tools. That is the guide’s interpretation, not an official NCSOFT assurance. Check the current operation policy for your region, remain actively in control, and avoid unattended play or external input automation.
