In Buffer for iOS, open Publish, tap +, select a connected social channel, write your post, add any media, then tap Next to publish now or choose a scheduling option. The queue uses the posting schedule for the selected channel, so check its schedule and time zone if the timing matters.
Create a post in the Buffer iOS app
- Open the composer. Open Buffer and tap Publish at the bottom of the app, then tap the + button in the lower-right corner.
- Choose the destination. Select a connected social channel. If you opened the composer from a channel, it may already be selected. To add more destinations, tap the + icon at the top of the composer and select additional channels.
- Add your content. Write or paste the caption. To attach media, use the app’s media option; on iOS, you can add an image from Camera Roll, and a post can include images and video. Buffer also offers image editing and alt text where the destination channel supports it.
- Choose what happens next. Tap Next in the top-right corner, then select a publishing or scheduling option. Choose Now for immediate publishing. Otherwise, the post is added to the queue and calendar.
For the next available scheduled slot, choose the queue or next-available option. Buffer assigns queued posts to the next open slot in the posting schedule for that channel.
Choose between the queue, a specific date, and publishing now

Start from a date in the calendar
- Tap Publish.
- Select a channel or All Channels, then tap the Calendar icon.
- Choose a date and tap +.
- Create the post, choose its channels, and select a scheduling option.
Check the channel’s schedule and time zone
Queue timing depends on the posting schedule attached to the selected channel. Each channel has its own schedule and time zone, so a queued post’s slot can differ between channels. Buffer advises checking the time zone whenever you connect a new channel; see its mobile-app setup guidance and instructions for setting time zones and posting schedules.
Instagram: choose automatic publishing or Notify Me
When creating Instagram content in the mobile app, choose a content type—such as Post, Reel, or Story—and a publishing mode. Automatic publishing is available only for eligible content on Instagram professional accounts (Business or Creator). With Notify Me, Buffer sends a push notification and you finish publishing in Instagram; this requires the Buffer mobile app and enabled notifications. Optional iOS features
Buffer’s mobile scheduling guide says the AI-generated content disclosure toggle is available on iOS. It also says threaded posts are available in Buffer for iOS version 15.7 onward. These options are not required to create an ordinary post; consult Buffer’s mobile scheduling guide for the current app instructions.
