To create one, choose a platform that fits your planning needs, add the information guests need, configure and test the RSVP process, set any available privacy controls, then publish the site before sharing its address.
1. Choose a wedding website platform
Wedding-focused services such as Zola and The Knot combine website pages with wedding-planning features. General website builders such as Wix and Squarespace offer wedding designs with their own customization and event tools. The right choice depends on how much you value integrated planning features versus control over the site’s appearance.
Before settling on a platform, compare the specific features you need. RSVP questions, guest-list workflows, registry links, privacy settings, and custom-domain requirements differ by provider and can change. Check the provider’s current documentation rather than assuming that every platform supports the same options.
- Ease and integration: Can you manage the website, guest list, RSVPs, registry, and guest communications together in a way that suits your plans?
- Design control: Do the available templates, layouts, colors, and page sections give you the look you want?
- RSVP workflow: How will guests find their invitation, respond, and answer any questions you need to ask?
- Privacy: Are password protection or other access controls available, and which parts of the site do they cover?
- Cost and domain: Which features are included, and does using a custom domain require an upgrade or ongoing payment?
For example, Wix says a premium plan is required for a custom domain. The Knot says its core wedding website features are free and a custom domain is an optional paid upgrade. Confirm current terms directly with the provider before choosing.

2. Choose a design and a guest-friendly address
Start with a wedding template or design, then choose a site name and URL guests can recognize and type easily. If you want a custom domain, check whether the provider requires a paid plan or upgrade. A simple, memorable address is easier to share in invitations and easier for guests to enter correctly.
3. Add the information guests will need
Build the site around practical questions guests are likely to have. Put essential logistics where visitors can find them quickly, and keep details accurate as plans change.

RSVP implementations vary, so verify the options available on your chosen platform rather than promising guests a feature you have not confirmed.

- Submit a test response, if the platform allows, and confirm that it appears as expected in your guest-management workflow.
5. Decide who should be able to view the site
If the site includes guest-only details, consider enabling a password or another access control where available. Zola describes optional password protection. Treat any such setting as a way to limit access, not as a guarantee of complete privacy; check which pages it applies to and how guests will receive the access information.
6. Publish, then check the site on a phone
Creating or editing a site does not necessarily make it available to guests. The Knot Help Center’s “How do I create a wedding website?” explains that guests cannot access a site until it is published. Publish the site before distributing its address.

- Complete an RSVP test and check the resulting response.
- Visit the published URL to confirm guests can reach the site.
7. Share the address with guests
Include the website URL in save-the-date or invitation communications. For paper invitations, a printed details card with a QR code is another way to make the site easy to open; Zola depicts this format. Whichever method you use, make sure the shared address points to the published site.
Keep the site useful as plans change
When a time, location, or travel detail changes, update the website so it remains a reliable guest information hub. Before making a change that affects the schedule or arrival plans, check the published page and its links again.
