Create a Netflix profile from the profile-selection screen on a TV, from Manage Profiles on the web, or through the Netflix mobile app. Name it, choose an icon, and optionally enable the Kids experience. Netflix’s documented steps are available in its profile management guide.
How to add a Netflix profile
Use the path for the device you have open:
- TV or streaming device: On the profile-selection screen, choose Add Profile+.
- Web browser: Open Netflix’s Manage Profiles page and choose Add Profile.
- Android, iPhone, or iPad: Open Netflix, tap My Netflix in the lower-right corner, tap the profile name at the top, then tap Manage Profiles and Add Profile.
When prompted, enter the main profile’s PIN. Enter a name, choose an icon, and turn on Kids if you want the Kids experience. Select Continue or Save to finish. Icon choices can vary by location and profile.

If the device does not offer a way to add a profile, Netflix recommends completing the setup at Netflix.com in a browser.
How many profiles can one Netflix account have?
Netflix Help Center guidance says an account can have up to five profiles. An extra-member account has one profile and cannot add more. The Help Center page does not state when this guidance was published, so check Netflix’s live profile guidance if your account’s options differ.

Why can’t I add a Netflix profile?
Check these account and device conditions if Add Profile is missing:
- You use an extra-member account: Netflix says extra-member accounts have one profile only.
- Your device is older: Netflix says profiles are unavailable on devices made before 2013; devices made after 2013 can have profiles added. If the option is unavailable, try the browser method.
- A profile PIN is required: If prompted, enter the main profile’s PIN. The account holder can require a PIN before someone adds another profile through the main profile’s Profile Lock settings.
What can you customize on a Netflix profile?
Profiles can keep preferences and activity separate, including language, viewing restrictions, subtitle appearance, playback and notification settings, viewing activity, My List, ratings, and personalized recommendations. Some features are unavailable for Kids profiles.

Language and audio preferences
You can set a profile’s display language and audio and subtitle preferences. The languages available for audio and subtitles vary by title; see Netflix’s language settings guidance.
Kids experience and viewing restrictions
You can enable Kids while creating a profile. Netflix also lets you set a profile’s maturity rating and block specific titles. Maturity-rating changes are not available on a TV or streaming device; Netflix’s instructions direct users to a browser for changing a Kids profile’s rating and for blocking titles. Require a PIN to add profiles
The account holder can require the main profile’s PIN before anyone adds a profile. In a browser, open Account → Profiles → main profile → Profile Lock. After saving, refresh Netflix on the device by switching profiles or signing out and back in if needed. Netflix explains the setting in its Profile Lock guide.

The main profile cannot be deleted. Deleting another profile removes its viewing history and game saves, so confirm that you have selected the right profile before deleting it. Netflix’s profile management guide covers profile deletion.
