To create a catalog in WhatsApp Business, open Tools > Catalog in the mobile app, select Add new item, add at least one image, enter the item name and country of origin, then save. WhatsApp reviews catalog items before customers can see them.
Before you start
A WhatsApp Business catalog can show products or services on your business profile. You can add listings directly in the app or connect an existing Meta catalog. The direct workflow below is best if you want to add and manage items individually in WhatsApp Business. WhatsApp confirms that connecting an existing Meta catalog is possible, but the setup controls can vary; follow its current catalog help instructions for that route.
Each new item needs a unique title, at least one image, and a country of origin. Price, sale price, description, website link, and item code are optional. Catalog price entry is available only in certain countries; WhatsApp’s guidance does not list all supported countries.
Create a catalog item in the WhatsApp Business app
- Open the catalog. On mobile, open WhatsApp Business and go to Tools > Catalog. On a computer, open the more-options menu and choose Catalog. Navigation and labels can differ by platform.
- Start a listing. Select Add new item on mobile. Some computer interfaces label the control Add item.
- Add media. Choose photos or videos from your device, or take new media if that option appears. WhatsApp’s current mobile instructions allow up to 10 images or videos for an item, with each video up to 50 MB. Its computer instructions describe uploading up to 10 images.
- Enter the item details. Add a product or service name, then select Country of origin and choose where the item was created. WhatsApp requires this field for new items and when editing an existing item.
- Add optional information. Enter a price, sale price, description, website link, or product/service code if useful and available in your country.
- Save the item. Select Save or Add to catalog, depending on the interface.
What happens after you submit an item?
WhatsApp reviews catalog media and items against its business messaging policy. While an item is pending, customers cannot see it. Once approved, it is added to the catalog and becomes visible. A rejected item is not shown and is marked with a red exclamation icon in the described interface.

If you believe an item was rejected by mistake, use Request another review in the item’s review controls. WhatsApp’s item-creation instructions do not specify a review turnaround, so there is no supported time estimate to rely on.
Organize items into collections
Collections group items already in your catalog; add the items first. Then open the catalog’s collection controls, create and name a collection, choose its items, and submit it. The exact controls vary by platform.

WhatsApp reviews collections under its Commerce Policy before making them available to customers. Its collection guidance says review should take no more than 24 hours. Afterward, you can reorder collections, edit which items they contain, rename them, or delete them.

Troubleshoot items that are missing from your catalog
- It is still pending review: Pending items are not visible to customers. Check the item’s status in the catalog.
- It was rejected: A rejected item is not displayed. Review the item and its media against WhatsApp’s business messaging policy; if you think the decision was incorrect, submit Request another review.
- A field is missing: Confirm the item has a unique name, at least one image, and a selected country of origin. Country of origin is required when creating or editing an item.
- You cannot enter a price: Catalog price entry is limited to certain countries. The current guidance does not specify the full list, so check WhatsApp’s help information and the options shown in your app.
- The controls do not match these steps: WhatsApp’s labels and navigation differ across Android, iOS, Web, and Windows. Follow the controls in your current version of WhatsApp Business and consult the WhatsApp Help Center catalog instructions.
