To create a calendar in Notion, make a new Calendar database, add an inline Calendar view to a page, or add a Calendar view to a database you already use. Every option needs a Date property: that property determines where database items appear on the calendar.
Choose the calendar setup that fits your page

A Notion calendar view is a way to display database items, not a separate physical calendar. Each calendar entry is a database page, so it can contain properties and page content. Notion’s calendar view guide covers the available layouts and date settings.
Create a new full-page calendar
- Create a new page in your workspace.
- Under Get started with, open the ••• menu and select Calendar.
- Add entries. Each entry becomes a database page.
- Make sure the database has a Date property and assign a date to each entry you want placed on the calendar.
If you are setting up a content schedule, for example, an entry might be a post with a title, status, and publishing date. That date property controls where it appears; the example does not require a special content-planning feature.
Add an inline calendar to a page
- Open the page where you want the calendar to appear.
- Type /Calendar view and press Enter.
- Add entries and dates to the inline database as needed.
Use the control at the inline database’s top-right to expand it to a full page. The calendar remains a database view, so its entries and properties belong to that database.

Add a calendar view to an existing database
- Open the database whose entries you want to display.
- Select the + beside the database name or current view name.
- Choose Calendar from the view menu.
- If the database has more than one Date property, select the one that should position entries on this calendar.
This adds another view of the same database: existing entries and properties remain in place. You can create separate calendar views when you need to organize the same items around different date properties.
Set the calendar layout and week start
Show a monthly or weekly calendar
Notion calendar views can use monthly or weekly layouts. To switch a database calendar to a weekly view, open the database settings and choose the layout options under Layout. See Notion’s calendar view guide for the documented monthly and weekly behavior.
Choose Sunday or Monday as the first day
The first day of the week follows your regional settings. To change it, go to Settings → Preferences → Language & Time and set Start week on Monday as desired. The calendar settings documentation describes this preference.
Show a Notion database in the separate Notion Calendar app
If you want a database’s dates alongside other commitments, connect the database to Notion Calendar. This is optional: making a calendar view in Notion does not require the separate app. Notion Calendar is listed for web, Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android in the Notion Calendar apps documentation.

- Open Notion Calendar on desktop or the web.
- In the left sidebar, find the workspace and open its workspace/calendar menu; choose Add Notion database.
- Select the database. If it has more than one date property, choose the property to display.
- To add another view from a database already connected, open the database menu and choose Add Notion database view.
The database must have a Date property, and you need at least Can view permission to connect it. Editing or adding pages through Notion Calendar requires Can edit content. Notion’s integration help page currently says up to 20 databases can be added; this product limit may change.
Notion Calendar can display a connected database there, but the help page says the database cannot be viewed in Google Calendar or iCloud Calendar. Formula, Created time, and Last edited time date values are read-only from within Notion Calendar. For more on database setup and views, see Create a database in Notion.

Use a template only if you want a shortcut
Notion offers suggested database templates that can reduce initial setup. A template is optional: the native steps above create a calendar without one. Check that any template you choose has the date property and layout your workflow needs.
