To run Indian music on YouTube around the clock with album art, create an encoder-based livestream in YouTube Studio, use artwork you have permission to display, and stream only recordings and compositions you are authorized to livestream. Verify and enable livestreaming before launch, test privately, and make a plan for interruptions and the replay: a 24-hour broadcast is not guaranteed to produce one complete automatic archive.
The rights check is essential. Owning an audio file or cover image does not by itself grant permission to broadcast either one.
What you need before you start
- A verified YouTube channel that has had no livestreaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube says first-time livestreaming may take up to 24 hours to become available, so enable it well before your planned start.
- An encoder. YouTube supports encoder-based livestreaming; OBS Studio is one option, not a requirement. A computer-hosted encoder or dedicated hardware can send the audio and album-art image.
- Music and image files, plus permission for the planned uses of each. Check the recording and the underlying musical or literary work, as well as the artwork.
- A person or process able to notice a dropped feed, a rights warning, or other interruption and respond.
Clear the music and artwork rights first
An Indian music broadcast may involve rights in both the composition and the particular sound recording. India’s Copyright Act broadly addresses communication to the public and includes that right for musical works and sound recordings. Which permissions apply depends on the specific catalogue, agreements, territories, intended archive or replay, and monetization. This overview cannot determine the licence required for any particular song or channel.

Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Before scheduling the stream, identify each recording and its composition, determine who controls the relevant rights, and confirm in writing that your permissions cover the intended livestream, territories, replay or archive, and monetization. Ask the relevant label, distributor, publisher, recording owner, or an India-qualified music-rights professional if any part is unclear. Do not assume a statutory provision, collecting-society payment, or YouTube account automatically clears every right for your use.

YouTube scans livestreams for matches to third-party content. A match can lead to a warning, a placeholder image, interruption, or termination. YouTube also cautions that a licensed track can still be interrupted if the rights owner has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Ask the relevant owner about allowlisting before launch and test the channel; permission and platform allowlisting address different practical issues, and neither should be treated as a guarantee of uninterrupted transmission.
Keep proof of permission
Save the licence, written permission, and any confirmation about allowlisting somewhere the channel operator can access. Check whether the agreement names the channel and covers the intended use, instead of relying on a general statement that a track is cleared.

Prepare the album-art stream
- Choose the visual. Use artwork you are permitted to display. Give credit if the permission or agreement requires it; attribution is not a substitute for permission.
- Build the encoder scene. Set the album art as the visual source and route the planned music audio into the encoder. The image is only the visual presentation; it does not clear the audio rights.
- Choose encoding values for the actual setup. Set resolution, bitrate, and keyframe interval in the encoder using the current guidance for YouTube’s ingest and the stream you are sending. The official material reviewed for this album-art use case does not establish one universal resolution, bitrate, or keyframe value. Do not copy a number from an unrelated setup and assume it fits yours.
- Check the complete output. Confirm that the intended image is visible and that the intended audio—not silence, an unintended desktop sound, or a different source—is reaching the stream.
YouTube’s reviewed guidance does not prescribe a special resolution, motion treatment, layout, or still-image requirement for an album-art-only 24/7 broadcast. If you add animated artwork or video later, check that you have permission for those assets too.
Create and test the YouTube livestream
- Enable livestreaming early. In YouTube Studio, verify the channel and enable livestreaming. If this is your first broadcast, leave at least 24 hours for activation before the planned start.
- Open the Live Control Room. Create a livestream using the encoder option, then configure the event and obtain the stream key in YouTube Studio.
- Connect the encoder. Enter the stream details and key in your chosen encoder, then start its output. YouTube does not require OBS or a particular computer or hardware model in the reviewed setup guidance.
- Test as unlisted. YouTube for Artists recommends an unlisted test before launch. Check the Live Control Room preview and the actual watch page for both picture and sound. Confirm that the correct event and stream key are in use before scheduling the public broadcast.
- Go public only after the test passes. Confirm the incoming feed in Live Control Room and have an operator ready to respond if the stream stops or YouTube displays a rights warning.
Plan for 24-hour continuity and the replay
A continuous 24-hour broadcast needs a continuity plan, not just a playlist. Decide who will notice a failure, how the encoder or stream will be restarted, and how problematic audio can be stopped or replaced. The official material reviewed does not set a universal playlist length, computer specification, upload-speed minimum for this India-specific scenario, UPS capacity, or uptime guarantee. Test the actual installation rather than assuming any one specification will ensure an uninterrupted run.

One long broadcast or shorter segments?
| Approach | Useful when | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| One long broadcast | You want one continuous scheduled viewing experience and have a plan to monitor interruptions. | YouTube’s official live-production guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived and advises recording longer streams separately when a replay is needed. Do not count on one 24-hour stream becoming a complete automatic archive. |
| Shorter scheduled segments | You want to manage separate broadcasts or make archive duration part of the schedule. | Restarting and monitoring each segment adds work and can interrupt the listener experience. The official guidance does not prescribe a segment schedule; check each resulting replay rather than assuming it is complete. |
If preserving the entire 24-hour programme matters, make a separate recording plan and verify the resulting file before relying on it as the archive.
Choose an encoder approach you can operate
| Approach | Consider |
|---|---|
| Computer-hosted software encoder | Whether the operator knows the software, whether the computer can be monitored for the full run, and how the stream will be restored after a crash or disconnect. |
| Dedicated hardware encoder | Whether someone can monitor the equipment and recover the stream after a failure, and whether the team is familiar with its controls. |
The reviewed official guidance does not require either approach or establish one as universally better. Pick the one your team can test, monitor, and recover.

Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | What to check and do |
|---|---|
| Livestreaming is not available in Studio | Check that the channel is verified, confirm there has been no livestream restriction in the previous 90 days, and allow time for first-time activation. |
| The Live Control Room receives no feed | Check that the encoder is outputting to the event you created and that its stream key matches the one configured in Studio. Reconnect and confirm that the preview appears before making the event public. |
| The preview appears but the audio is missing or wrong | Check the encoder’s audio source and routing, then listen to the watch-page test before launch. Correct the source and test again. |
| YouTube displays a placeholder, warning, or interrupts the broadcast | Stop or replace the affected audio and contact the relevant rights owner about the match and Content ID allowlisting. Do not keep retransmitting disputed material while assuming a licence alone prevents interruption. |
| The stream drops during the run | Use the recovery plan to restore the encoder feed, then verify that Live Control Room is receiving it again. Keep an operator available to notice the interruption. |
| The replay is missing or incomplete | Check the broadcast duration and the separate recording, if you made one. For a broadcast longer than 12 hours, YouTube’s official guide advises recording separately when an uploadable replay is required. |
