For a question about a specific case, contact the Ventura County Superior Court division handling it; for an online status check, use the Court’s Case Inquiry service. The Court’s reviewed search results did not establish whether a labor disruption is currently affecting service, so check its Public Notices before traveling, filing, or relying on a particular office’s availability.

Which Ventura Superior Court number should you call about your case?

Use the Court’s Phone Directory to find the unit that handles your matter. The directory lists these numbers; confirm the current number there before calling:

Matter or service Phone
Civil 805-289-8525
Criminal and traffic 805-289-8545
Family law 805-289-8610
Records 805-289-8668
Self-Help Legal Access Center 805-289-8812

The Court Administration page lists its main number as 805-289-8900 and administrative email as admin-vsc@ventura.courts.ca.gov, but directs people seeking case information to Case Inquiry. For an individual case question, start with the relevant division rather than a general or media contact.

How can you check your Ventura County court case online?

Use the Court’s Case Inquiry service for online case information. It links to civil, probate, small claims, and family-law databases. The Court cautions that online information is provided as a service, may contain errors or omissions, and is not the official court record. Some records or details may only be available through Records.

How do you request court records?

Follow the Records Department’s published procedures. It identifies separate locations for Ventura-held civil, family, small claims, criminal, and traffic matters, and Oxnard-held juvenile and probate matters. Record-search requests may be made in person or in writing, not by phone. Check the Records page for current locations, hours, fees, and request instructions before submitting a request.

What if you need to file something or ask about a civil deadline?

The Civil division page provides unit contact information, hours, and mail and drop-box filing details. Check the page and current Court notices for any changes before using a filing method during a disruption. The page also says a clerk cannot grant a continuance; it does not determine your deadline or legal rights. Do not assume that a labor disruption or closure automatically extends a deadline.

Who should you contact if the courthouse is closed?

Check the Court’s home page and its current Public Notices for closure or service instructions, then confirm availability with the division that handles your case. The reviewed results surfaced a service-hours press release dated July 31, 2025, and a limited closure order filed March 7, 2023, but neither establishes current operations. The 2023 order addressed a specific event and said deadlines were not extended for that closure; it does not determine the effect of a current disruption.

When not to contact the Public Information Officer

The Public Information Officer is not a route for individual case questions. The Court says that office cannot help with a person’s case, provide case-file records, or give legal advice.

Can the Civil Self-Help Center answer legal questions?

The Civil Self-Help Center offers limited assistance, but it cannot provide legal advice, file or serve documents, or represent a party. Its page says email replies are expected within five court days, excluding court closures and holidays. Because availability and response times may be affected by closures, verify current service information before relying on that estimate.
