If your order is late, check its estimated delivery date and tracking, then contact the seller through the order’s own Help or message option. State the order number, promised date and latest tracking update, and ask for a clear update, replacement or refund. If that does not resolve the problem, escalate through the marketplace before the deadline shown on the order.
Check the order before contacting support
Open the order or purchase page and confirm the estimated delivery date, saved delivery address and latest tracking event. A shipment still moving is different from one with no recent scan, and both differ from a package marked delivered that you cannot find.
- If the estimate has not passed, check whether the seller or carrier has posted a revised date.
- If tracking is stalled or the estimate has passed, note the last scan and date.
- If tracking says delivered, check the delivery confirmation and likely drop-off location, verify the address, and ask household members or neighbors before reporting it missing.
Marketplaces use different rules for a package marked delivered. For example, Walmart advises checking the delivery location and confirmation, asking others at the address, confirming the saved address, and waiting two business days after a shipping package is marked delivered before chatting if it remains missing. For a Walmart delivery order, its instructions instead emphasize checking the delivery photo, using chat and starting a return to request a refund. Follow the route shown for your order.

Contact the seller through the order page
Use the order-linked option—such as Help, Message seller, Problem with order or item not received—rather than an unrelated email or phone number in a message. This ties your request to the transaction and keeps a record. The FTC advises contacting a marketplace seller promptly when there is a problem, asking for answers in writing and retaining messages.

Keep the message short and specific. Include:
- Order number and item name.
- Estimated delivery date and the latest tracking event, including its date.
- Whether you checked the delivery address or location, if relevant.
- The action you want: a delivery update, replacement or refund.
For example: “My order [number] was due on [date]. Tracking last updated on [date] with [status]. Please tell me when it will arrive, or let me know how to arrange a replacement or refund.” Save the message and any reply.
How seller contact and escalation work on major marketplaces
These are examples of current official help flows, not universal waiting periods or guarantees. Eligibility and deadlines can depend on the order, seller, item and location. Check the live order page for the applicable options and case deadline.

Escalate if the seller does not resolve the delay
If the seller does not respond or the proposed solution is not acceptable, return to the order and use the marketplace’s report, case or customer-care route. Provide the message history, order confirmation, tracking details and the outcome you requested. Check the current case deadline immediately; waiting for a seller reply can use up the time available to ask the marketplace to intervene.

Understand US shipping and payment rights
Marketplace policies are separate from US federal consumer rules. The FTC’s summary of the Mail, Internet, or Telephone Order Merchandise Rule says a seller must ship within the time stated by the seller or its advertising. If no shipping time was stated, shipment generally must occur within 30 days. When shipment is delayed, the seller must notify the buyer and offer a choice: agree to the delay or cancel for a full refund. This is US federal guidance; it is not the same as marketplace buyer protection.
If a non-delivery charge remains unresolved, contact your payment issuer promptly rather than waiting indefinitely on the seller. For a qualifying credit-card billing error involving an item not delivered as agreed, FTC guidance says the general deadline is to send a written dispute within 60 days after the first statement with the error is sent. Send it to the card issuer’s billing-disputes address, not its payment address. A dispute does not guarantee a refund. Debit-card protections differ and may not provide the same non-delivery refund right, so contact the debit issuer promptly.

Retain the order confirmation, receipt, tracking number, stated shipping promise, delay notices and all messages. These records help explain the issue to the seller, marketplace or issuer.
If you suspect a scam
Keep communications and payment within the marketplace’s official channels. If you believe the seller is dishonest, the FTC says you can report the business to the FTC and your state attorney general. Save relevant messages and transaction records.
