One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchTo connect a wireless speaker to your TV, first check the TV’s exact model and manual for Bluetooth audio output or a supported TV-specific speaker feature. Bluetooth on a TV does not automatically mean it can send sound to a speaker. If the TV cannot transmit audio over Bluetooth, use a compatible external transmitter connected to an available audio output, or choose a wired audio connection such as HDMI ARC/eARC or optical.
Choose a connection your TV and speaker both support
Check the TV’s audio-output settings and labeled ports, then confirm their purpose in the manual for your model. A port’s shape alone does not establish whether it carries audio out. The available menus and features vary by model, software generation, and region.
| Method | What must be supported | Setup and trade-offs |
|---|---|---|
| Built-in Bluetooth | The TV must offer Bluetooth audio output; the speaker must support Bluetooth pairing. | Wireless and straightforward when supported. Audio may lag behind the picture; range and interference can affect playback. |
| TV-specific Wi-Fi speaker feature | A compatible TV and speaker in the supported ecosystem and on the same wireless network. Samsung documents this feature for Samsung TVs and Samsung soundbars, with model qualifications. | Follow the TV maker’s instructions. Do not assume a generic Wi-Fi or streaming speaker can connect this way. |
| Built-in Bluetooth transmitter mode | A TV model with a Bluetooth audio transmitter setting, plus a compatible speaker. | Some Panasonic models provide a Transmitter mode. Compatibility and menu availability are model-dependent, and the speaker may need to be paired again. |
| External Bluetooth transmitter | A transmitter with an input matching an available TV audio output, and Bluetooth support for the speaker. | Useful when the TV lacks Bluetooth audio output. Check input type, pairing capability, TV output settings, and any delay-adjustment feature before buying; performance depends on the specific devices. |
| HDMI ARC/eARC | A TV port labeled ARC or eARC/ARC and compatible ARC/eARC equipment. | Uses a cable rather than a wireless link, but can return TV sound to a compatible soundbar or audio system. The correct port and settings matter. |
| Optical audio | A TV optical audio output and an optical input on the receiving audio system. | A wired alternative. If the audio system lacks optical input, a compatible optical-to-stereo converter may bridge the connection. |
For model-specific examples, LG’s Bluetooth speaker instructions vary by webOS generation, while Samsung lists Sound → Sound Output → Bluetooth Speaker List for supported TVs. These are examples, not universal menus. Panasonic also documents Bluetooth transmitter mode on applicable models. Use your own TV manual to confirm its feature and path.
Connect a speaker directly over Bluetooth
- Confirm TV audio output support. In the manual or TV sound settings, look for Bluetooth audio output, a Bluetooth speaker list, or transmitter mode. If Bluetooth is mentioned only for remotes, keyboards, or receiving audio from a phone, that does not confirm speaker output.
- Put the speaker in pairing mode. Follow its own instructions. Disconnect it from a phone or other device if that device is already connected and may be claiming the speaker.
- Open the TV’s sound-output menu. Select the Bluetooth speaker or start a device search. On supported Samsung TVs, the documented route is Sound → Sound Output → Bluetooth Speaker List. On supported LG TVs, the route depends on webOS generation; use the LG instructions for the relevant version.
- Select the speaker and test TV audio. Confirm that the TV’s selected output is the speaker, rather than the built-in TV speakers or another device. Test playback from more than one source.
If the TV has a built-in Bluetooth transmitter mode, select that mode as directed by its manufacturer. Panasonic notes that some devices may not be compatible and that pairing may need to be repeated on applicable models; its menu should not be assumed for every Panasonic TV.

Use an external Bluetooth transmitter if the TV cannot send Bluetooth audio
An external transmitter can add a Bluetooth link, but it must receive audio from an output your TV actually has. Before buying, check whether the TV provides optical, 3.5 mm headphone, or RCA audio output and whether the transmitter accepts that exact type. Then confirm that the transmitter can pair with your speaker. The cited manufacturer guidance establishes these connection categories, not compatibility or performance for any particular third-party adapter.
- Check the TV manual and ports for an audio output that can feed the transmitter.
- Match the transmitter’s input to that output; do not assume an optical connector, for example, accepts a 3.5 mm signal.
- Set the TV to send audio through the selected output if a setting is required.
- Connect and pair the transmitter with the speaker according to both devices’ instructions.
- Test picture synchronization and volume control before relying on the setup.
Bluetooth audio can be delayed relative to video. Panasonic North America Support says, “When a Bluetooth device is connected to the TV, it is possible that the Bluetooth audio output may not be synchronized (i.e. be delayed) with relation to the images on the screen.” The delay varies by device, so do not assume a transmitter will eliminate it. Check for audio-sync controls or use another supported connection if the delay is disruptive.

Connect through HDMI ARC/eARC or optical
HDMI ARC/eARC
Connect the TV’s port labeled ARC or eARC/ARC to the corresponding ARC/eARC port on a compatible soundbar or audio system. An ordinary HDMI input is not interchangeable with the port that returns TV sound. Select the matching sound output in the TV settings and enable ARC/eARC as needed. Depending on the model, HDMI-CEC (sometimes called HDMI Control) may also need to be enabled. Samsung’s cited eARC guidance uses Auto where supported; use the setting recommended for your TV and audio system.
Optical
Connect the TV’s digital optical output to an optical input on the audio system, then choose optical or digital audio output in the TV settings if required. Verify that both devices have the matching ports. If the receiver lacks optical input, Panasonic identifies an optical-to-stereo converter as one possible bridge; check the converter’s inputs and outputs against both devices before using it.

The TV does not find the speaker
- Confirm the TV supports Bluetooth audio output, not merely Bluetooth for input devices or phone connections.
- Put the speaker in pairing mode and disconnect it from a phone or other device that may already be connected.
- Move the speaker closer to the TV and start the search again.
- Remove the speaker from the TV’s paired-device list, then pair it again.
- Check for software updates for the TV and speaker if available.
TCL Support cautions that “Bluetooth performance can vary depending on distance, interference, and TV compatibility.” These are possible causes, not guaranteed explanations for every failed pairing.

The speaker connects but there is no sound
- Check that the TV’s selected sound output is the paired speaker or the wired connection you are using.
- For an external transmitter, confirm the TV is outputting audio through the transmitter’s input connection.
- For ARC/eARC, verify both ends use the labeled ARC/eARC ports and check ARC/eARC and, if needed, CEC/HDMI Control settings.
- For optical, check that the cable is seated at both ends and that the TV’s output is set to optical or digital audio if required.
- For a soundbar or wired system, make sure its selected input matches the connection. Inspect the cable for a loose fit or damage.
Sound cuts out or works only with some content
Move a Bluetooth speaker closer and consider interference. Panasonic’s advice for the models covered by its FAQ includes trying a 5 GHz Wi-Fi band or wired LAN if Bluetooth interruptions coincide with a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi router, and moving the Bluetooth device closer. This is model-specific guidance, not a universal fix.
To isolate a source-specific issue, try another app, channel, or HDMI-connected device. If only one source has a problem, the app, external device, or audio format may be involved. For a wired setup, recheck the soundbar input and cable connections; a loose or damaged cable can contribute to missing sound, dropouts, detection problems, or volume issues.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsPicture and audio are out of sync
Bluetooth delay depends on the TV and speaker, and some combinations may not provide a satisfactory sync. Look for an audio-delay or lip-sync setting in the TV or speaker menus. If adjustment is unavailable or insufficient, try a supported wired connection such as ARC/eARC or optical.
Can the TV speakers and external speaker play together?
Sometimes, but simultaneous output is model-dependent. Panasonic documents a Bluetooth Audio setting called “ALL” on applicable models, and LG describes internal TV speakers plus headphone audio for supported models. Check the manual for your exact TV; do not assume pairing a speaker leaves the built-in speakers active.
