Connect a data catalog to AI governance by joining governed data assets to the models, versions, deployments, applications or agents, and use cases that depend on them—and by carrying ownership, access, and approval information into the workflow. A catalog connector alone does not guarantee complete lineage or enforce policy in training and production. Verify what each integration actually collects and links before treating the result as end-to-end governance.
What should the integration connect?
Think of the integration as a set of relationships between governed assets, not simply a feed of dataset names. The useful chain is:
Data asset → transformation or training job → model and version → deployment or application/agent → use case
Not every platform exposes every link. Record whether each relationship is reported by a source system, inferred from available metadata, or supplied through a custom integration or manual process. Do not present a link as verified lineage unless the relevant platforms actually provide evidence for it.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For each asset, agree on stable identifiers before connecting systems. A practical starting set is an asset ID for data, a model ID plus version, a deployment or application ID, and a use-case ID. Confirm which identifiers each connector emits and whether they remain stable through renames, version changes, and redeployments.
What information should travel between systems?
Decide on a minimum metadata contract that lets people find an asset, understand its responsibility and status, and trace its connections. Treat the following as an implementation checklist; the exact fields and enforcement mechanisms depend on the products and organization.

- Operational context: when metadata was last refreshed, whether ingestion succeeded, and which expected relationships or asset types are missing.
Metadata in a catalog is not the same as a control enforced during model training or in production. Link approval and access processes to the catalog’s identifiers, then separately verify that the systems executing training, deployment, and application requests apply the intended controls.
How do you implement the connection?
- Inventory systems and identifiers. List the catalogs, storage and transformation systems, model platforms and registries, deployment environments, and AI application or agent platforms in scope. Choose stable IDs for the assets and relationships, then check what each available connector actually emits.
- Ingest and curate data metadata. Connect or scan source assets, assign ownership, and organize them into domains or data products. Add descriptions, quality state, classifications, and access requirements so that model-related metadata joins to assets people can interpret. Microsoft’s Purview overview describes a workflow involving source scanning, curation, business concepts, data health, and access: Learn about data governance with Microsoft Purview.
- Connect metadata from the model platforms. Use a documented native integration where it covers the platforms and asset types you need. If it does not, identify a supported API or custom integration path and define who will maintain it.
- Validate each relationship. Test the expected chain from source data through jobs and model versions to deployments or applications and use cases. Compare the catalog’s links with the records in the source platforms; label any inferred or manually supplied link rather than implying that it was automatically traced.
- Attach governance work to the same identifiers. Define who owns and reviews assets and how registration, risk assessment, approval, and promotion reference the catalog records. Check separately that access policies and audit evidence cover both data and model assets.
- Monitor and repair the integration. Track failed or stale ingestion, broken links, and newly unsupported asset types. Revalidate after connector or platform changes and keep an exception list for relationships the integration cannot establish.
How do the documented platform examples differ?
The examples below illustrate different integration surfaces, not interchangeable guarantees. Connector coverage and lineage depth must be checked for the specific platforms and asset types in your environment.

|---|---|---|
| Microsoft Purview | Microsoft describes using Data Map to scan data assets and multicloud sources, then Unified Catalog to curate domains, data products, quality, and access. Its classic Data Catalog lineage guide says, “Data integration and ETL tools can push lineage into Microsoft Purview at execution time.” | The lineage guide is explicitly for the classic catalog and says lineage scope varies by system, with known limitations. Confirm that its guidance applies to the Purview product surface and connected sources you plan to use. |
| Collibra | Collibra documents Edge integrations that can ingest AI model and agent metadata into Data Catalog. Its listed platforms include Anthropic, AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, Azure AI Foundry, Azure ML, Databricks, Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, MLflow, OpenAI, SAP AI Core, and Snowflake Cortex AI. | Collibra states that AI Governance must be enabled to harvest AI model metadata into governed catalog assets and use the related dashboards and features. Automatic traceability varies by integration; consult the integration-specific relationship coverage. |
| MLflow with Unity Catalog | MLflow describes lifecycle and lineage tracking for models, prompts, datasets, and metrics, with access control; it also describes versioned prompt and application assets with linked evaluation results. Databricks describes broader governance principles including catalog metadata, lineage, permissions, audit, and data quality. | This is one ecosystem example, not a requirement to adopt this stack. Confirm which capabilities apply to your configured products and workflow. |

What should you verify before relying on lineage or controls?
- Platform and asset coverage: Does the connector cover the actual source, model platform, deployment environment, and asset types in scope—including prompts, agents, and applications if needed?
- Relationship depth: Which links are automatic, which require a separate integration, and which are inferred or manual? Does coverage include versions and deployments, or stop at a model record?
- Identifiers: Are stable identifiers available across systems, and are they preserved when assets are renamed, versioned, or redeployed?
- Access and audit: Does the integration only display permissions and audit information, or does a connected enforcement system apply the access policy? Check the distinction for both data and model assets.
- Prerequisites: Are licenses, connector components, permissions, APIs, or platform configurations required for metadata harvesting and governance features? Collibra, for example, distinguishes configuring connections from enabling AI Governance for model metadata harvesting and associated features.
- Freshness and recovery: How can operators identify a failed or stale ingestion, retry it, and discover relationships that no longer resolve after a source change?
- Custom lineage: If native coverage is incomplete, is there a supported way to report the missing relationships? The classic Purview guide describes custom lineage reporting through Atlas hooks and REST API; validate its applicability to the current product surface before building around it.
Microsoft’s lineage guide notes that connected systems support different lineage scopes, and Collibra’s traceability documentation describes integration-specific differences. Those limits make connector-level validation essential rather than optional.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
How should you operate the integration over time?
Assign an owner for each connector and for the metadata contract. Set a refresh expectation appropriate to how often source assets and models change, and monitor against it. Keep a short exception register containing the missing relationship, affected systems, workaround, and accountable owner. After platform upgrades or connector changes, recheck representative data-to-model and model-to-deployment paths rather than assuming the prior coverage still holds.
For Microsoft environments, distinguish current Purview governance guidance from the classic lineage documentation when designing that validation. For any platform, verify the configured product and connector behavior against the source records; vendor documentation describes capabilities, not proof that a specific deployment has complete lineage or operational enforcement.
