Which WordPress-to-Copper route should you choose?
If your site already uses Contact Form 7 or Gravity Forms, Copper documents an Outfunnel-powered connection for each. Those routes are intended to sync form entries into Copper, map answers to fields, and record submission activity against the relevant contact. Copper Forms is an alternative if you are willing to use Copper’s own form builder; Zapier is another option when your workflow involves supported apps beyond a WordPress form.
| Route | Best starting point | Documented behavior | Check before setup |
|---|---|---|---|

| Zapier | You need automation across supported apps. | Copper lists apps such as Gravity Forms, Wufoo, Jotform, and Typeform as possible connections. | Current trigger/action coverage, any separate-service plan needs, and token setup. |
Copper lists both the Contact Form 7 and Gravity Forms integrations as available on its Professional and Business tiers. Its Gravity Forms listing also says availability depends on the form provider’s Professional and Business plans. Copper says integrations vary by plan, so confirm current eligibility on the relevant listings before choosing a route. Can Contact Form 7 send leads to Copper?
Yes. Copper lists an Outfunnel integration that syncs new Contact Form 7 entries into Copper. It describes creating a contact when the submitted email is not already present and recording a submission against the matching contact when that email already exists. You can map form fields, see submission activity on the contact timeline, and check sync status. The listing also documents capturing landing page, referrer, and UTM data for new leads; do not assume that every source detail is captured without the relevant tracking setup. Does Gravity Forms integrate with Copper CRM?
Yes. Copper also documents an Outfunnel connection for Gravity Forms. The listing describes contact creation or matching by email, mapped fields, submission activity on a contact timeline, sync-status visibility, and website visitor/source information. Check both products’ plan requirements and confirm which source details and field mappings fit your form before relying on the workflow. Copper’s Gravity Forms listing
What happens when a form is submitted by an existing Copper contact?
For the documented Contact Form 7 and Gravity Forms flows, email is the matching key: a submission with an email already in Copper is associated with that contact rather than treated as a wholly new person. Copper Forms specifies an important difference in its own behavior: if the email matches, it does not create another contact or update the contact’s name. Instead, it adds the submission to activity history and notifies the account owner. That makes testing both a new email and a known email especially important when name changes or duplicate handling matter. Copper Forms documentation

When should you use Copper Forms or Zapier instead?
Copper Forms for a native intake form
Copper Forms can be embedded on a selected page or shown as a widget. Responses map to Copper fields, and completed forms are recorded in contact activity. It is a reasonable choice when a straightforward Copper-managed form matters more than preserving the existing WordPress form plugin. Confirm that the available display formats and matching behavior meet your design and intake needs. Copper Forms documentation
Zapier for broader app automation
Copper documents Zapier as a separate automation route and identifies form-related apps including Gravity Forms, Wufoo, Jotform, Typeform, and Facebook Lead Ads. Copper’s Help Center describes connecting Copper with an integration-specific token. The available triggers, actions, and plan requirements can change, so verify them in the current app setup rather than assuming every event or field is supported. Recommended setup checks before relying on the workflow
Use this checklist to catch mismatches before form submissions become part of your day-to-day follow-up. It is implementation guidance, not a claim that a particular configuration has been tested.
- Confirm plan eligibility. Check Copper’s current integration listing and the form provider’s plan terms for the route you selected.
- Map the fields you need. Decide where name, email, phone, inquiry, and any other useful answers should appear in Copper. Check required fields and confirm that the submitted values land in the intended fields.
- Confirm email matching. Use the email field as the matching point described by the documented flows, and decide how your team should handle an existing contact whose name or other details have changed.
- Submit a new-email test. Verify whether the expected contact appears, whether the answers are mapped correctly, and whether the submission is visible in activity history.
- Submit a known-email test. Inspect the existing contact and confirm the submission is attached as expected; for Copper Forms, check the activity entry and account-owner notification.
- Check source details and sync status. Where source tracking is part of your route, inspect landing page, referrer, and UTM information as applicable, and confirm the integration reports successful sync.
Choose the route that fits your current form workflow
Keep Contact Form 7 or Gravity Forms when the existing WordPress form and its process matter; use the corresponding Outfunnel integration Copper documents. Consider Copper Forms if you prefer a Copper-managed embedded form or widget. Choose Zapier when the need is broader cross-app automation and its current actions support the workflow. In each case, verify plan terms, field behavior, and the actual contact timeline outcome before routing real inquiries through it.
