SBC submissions are permanent, so a reward is not automatically worth sacrificing a player you value.
The details vary by edition: FC 26 uses squad-based requirements, while FC 27 also has Simplified SBCs that use Item Score. Check the challenge in your game before following a solution, because requirements, prices and expiry times can change.
Start with the challenge requirements and reward
Open the exact SBC and read all its requirements before adding players. In FC 26, these can include Squad Rating, Chemistry, Player Quality, Leagues, Nations and Clubs. Some challenges have multiple parts or are repeatable. FC 27 includes traditional squad-puzzle SBCs with requirements like these, as well as Simplified SBCs that count eligible Player Items toward a specified Item Score. See EA’s current SBC guidance for the edition-specific mechanics, and confirm the terms shown in-game.
Check the reward and expiry time, too. If an SBC belongs to a group, determine whether you must complete every part to receive the group reward. An expired FC 26 challenge can no longer accept submissions, so do not buy players for a solution you may not finish before the deadline.

Use eligible items you already own
Before shopping, check your Club for players who meet the requirements. EA also recommends checking SBC Storage, which holds duplicate untradeable Player Items that can be used in SBCs. It is specifically for those duplicates; do not assume every untradeable item can be stored there.
Using a player you already own avoids a market purchase, but it is not automatically free: the item may be useful in your squad or eligible for another challenge. Treat its value to you and its tradeability as part of the cost.

Build a solution that meets every requirement
For FC 26 and FC 27 puzzle SBCs
Compare combinations against the full set of requirements, not just the rating. A squad that reaches the required Squad Rating can still fail on Chemistry, Player Quality, League, Nation or Club. Try alternative combinations using your existing items before buying anything.
For FC 27 Simplified SBCs
Check each eligible item’s Item Score and watch how much progress remains before adding another player. EA says Simplified SBC progress can span multiple submissions, but submitted items are still removed each time, and partial progress does not unlock the main reward. Pay attention to any warning that you are going over the required Item Score; do not use substantially more than needed without a reason.

EA’s SBC instructions describe partial, untradeable rewards if a challenge expires after progress. Check the specific challenge’s terms rather than assuming every SBC handles expiry the same way.
Check the market only for what is missing
Once you have tested the items in your Club and, where applicable, SBC Storage, check the live Transfer Market for the remaining players. Prices and availability move, so compare current listings on the platform you use instead of relying on an old squad solution or a universal “cheapest” price. EA also advises checking the market before obtaining items.

Before committing, weigh the reward against what leaves your Club. Consider whether you will use the reward, whether submitted players are tradeable or useful elsewhere, whether you already own suitable items, and what missing players cost right now. Also account for the deadline, repeatability and the risk that a less obvious requirement—or an Item Score overshoot—makes your planned solution inefficient.
A high-rated reward is not automatically a good exchange for a player you value more. EA advises comparing the items being exchanged with the reward and trying different combinations before submitting. There is no established universal cheapest solution: the sensible choice depends on your inventory, platform market and the particular SBC.
Review carefully before you submit
- Confirm every requirement is met and the selected players are the ones you intend to exchange.
- Compare those items’ usefulness and value to you with the reward, and check that you can finish before the deadline.
- For an FC 27 Simplified SBC, review the remaining Item Score and any over-score warning.
- Submit only if the exchange still makes sense. EA’s rule is direct: “SBC submissions are final.” Submitted items are permanently removed, and EA Advisors cannot restore them.
Do not rely on packs to source a required player
Pack probability percentages describe categories or rating ranges, not the odds of pulling one specific player. EA says probabilities are recalculated when content updates and that the chance of an individual item is significantly lower, often below 1%. A pack is therefore not a dependable way to obtain a particular SBC player. See EA’s explanation of FC 26 pack probabilities; its illustrative figures are not current odds for a specific pack.
