Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesCompare a used or refurbished GPU with a new one by matching performance to your actual workload, then weighing the price against warranty coverage, return rights, condition, testing, and PC compatibility. “Refurbished” is not a guarantee of a particular repair process or warranty, and a seller’s account of a card’s history is not independent verification.
Start with the work you need the GPU to do
List the games or applications you use, your target resolution, and the settings you expect to run. Compare benchmark results for those workloads rather than relying on a model name or a broad claim that one card is faster. A result that does not reflect your software and settings may not predict the experience you care about.
For value, compare workload-relevant performance with the price you would actually pay now—not a past launch price or MSRP. TechRadar recommends dividing a GPU’s performance score by its current retailer price to measure performance per price paid (TechRadar’s graphics-card buying guide). Include the cost of any adapter or other required part that is not included. No current model benchmarks or prices are established here, so a specific card cannot be named as the best value.
Compare the real protections behind each listing
| What to compare | New card | Used or refurbished card |
|---|---|---|
| Performance | Compare results for your games or applications, resolution, and settings. | Use the same workload-based comparison; age or condition does not substitute for benchmark results. |
| Price and value | Use the price currently offered to you, plus any required missing parts. | Use the actual listing price and add any required parts. No universal discount makes a used card a good deal. |
| Warranty | Check the terms for the exact model, seller, and region. | Confirm whether coverage applies to a second owner or refurbished sale, who provides it, and what proof is required. |
| Returns and condition | Check the seller’s return deadline and condition terms. | Identify who tested or repaired it, what evidence they provide, and whether you can return it if it fails testing. |
| Fit and accessories | Verify dimensions, power needs, connectors, and included accessories. | Verify the same details for the exact card and confirm that any necessary adapter is included or priced in. |
A used card can cost less, but that saving comes with listing-specific risks. TechRadar notes that a used card may be out of warranty and that a card nearing the end of its useful life can fail outright rather than gradually losing performance (TechRadar). That is a reason to assess support and return terms, not a way to predict an individual card’s lifespan.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Do not assume “refurbished” means the same thing everywhere
The label alone does not establish who refurbished the card, what repair or testing was done, or which warranty applies. Ask whether the work was performed by the manufacturer, a retailer, or another seller, and request the process and coverage in writing. Check the listing’s return terms separately: a warranty and a return window are not interchangeable.
Warranty rules vary by brand, product, purchase conditions, and region. NVIDIA’s US GeForce warranty page states a three-year term from purchase for a new warranted product and says coverage does not extend to a person who acquires a warranted product used. It also says replacement parts or products may be new or refurbished for the remainder of the original warranty. These terms are specific to the products and conditions covered by that page; they do not establish the policy for every board-partner card or country. Review the current NVIDIA US GeForce warranty terms and the applicable terms for the exact card.

Before relying on any remaining coverage, establish which company actually warrants the model, whether a second owner or refurbished purchase qualifies, how much time remains, and what documentation is required. FaultNote’s September 19, 2026 guide describes manufacturer-specific differences. For example, it quotes a GIGABYTE term under which, without valid proof of purchase, the warranty date is calculated from the product’s manufacture date using its serial number. That is one manufacturer’s example, not a universal rule (FaultNote’s warranty and fit guide).
Check the exact card and your PC before paying
- Identity: Get the exact model and board maker, and clear photos of the serial label. Ask for the original receipt if available.
- Warranty and returns: Get written details on who provides coverage, whether you qualify, what proof is needed, and the return deadline. Verify coverage with the warranting company rather than relying on the seller’s recollection.
- Condition and testing: Inspect the exterior, serial label, and connectors. Ask who tested or repaired the card and request load-testing evidence. A listing’s claims about prior use should not be treated as verified history.
- Compatibility: Check the exact card’s length and thickness against your case, and its power requirements and connectors against your PSU. Confirm whether the required adapter and other accessories are included.
- After delivery: If you buy used or refurbished, test the card promptly under load and check temperatures while the return window is still open. Get PC Parts recommends load testing and a return window; this is retailer guidance, not a reported independent test result (Get PC Parts’ used-versus-new guide).
Treat claims about mining history as unverified
FaultNote says the manufacturer data and warranty lookup tools it reviewed do not let a buyer validate whether a particular GPU was used for mining. A seller’s statement that a card was—or was not—used for mining is therefore not proof. Base the decision on what you can verify: the card’s observable condition, documented testing, coverage, return terms, and fit with your system.

When a new card is the better comparison
Choose the new option when dependable support and avoiding the risk of a failed component matter more to you than the used listing’s price difference. A used or refurbished card may be worth considering when its workload performance, actual price, documented protections, testing evidence, and compatibility make sense for your needs. There is no evidence-backed universal discount threshold; the right trade-off depends on the specific card, seller, region, and buyer.
