Start with the FCC National Broadband Map, verify shortlisted options on each carrier’s coverage map, and treat both as estimates—not promises of service. Before switching, check your phone’s compatibility and any remaining payment or promotional obligations. If you want to keep your number, have the new carrier start the transfer before you cancel the old service.
1. List the places where coverage matters
Coverage at one address does not tell you how a carrier will perform everywhere you go. Write down your home, workplace, regular commute or travel routes, and other places where a dependable connection matters. Include indoor locations and rural areas if you use your phone there.
Use the FCC’s National Broadband Map as a common reference. Select the Mobile Broadband view; the map defaults to fixed broadband. Search or zoom to your locations, select providers, and compare the available layers, including 3G, 4G, and two 5G speed thresholds. The map also offers outdoor-stationary and in-vehicle views, but it does not show indoor availability. FCC map instructions explain the available views and filters.
2. Verify the map estimates with carriers
Check each shortlisted provider’s own address-based coverage map for the places on your list. Compare the maps as a screening tool, not a guarantee: carriers may use different assumptions, and roaming may be represented differently. The FCC’s mobile coverage information is based on propagation modeling from provider reports. As the FCC explains, actual experience can vary with the device, cell-site capacity, and terrain. FCC data notes describe how the map’s data are collected and their limitations.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
For example, Verizon’s coverage map lets users search by address and notes that device support can vary by 5G band. A map showing coverage does not establish that your particular phone will access every network feature in that area.
When possible, check service before moving your primary number: use your current phone if it is compatible, or consider a provider’s trial, eSIM option, or temporary line if available. Availability varies by provider, and a trial is not guaranteed.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
3. Compare the full cost for the same household
Compare plans using the same number of lines and realistic usage assumptions. A headline monthly price is not a like-for-like comparison if it depends on a short-lived discount, a particular payment method, or a plan tier with different features.
- Recurring service price: Record the regular rate and how long any introductory or switching discount lasts. Note conditions such as autopay, paperless billing, or eligibility requirements.
- Fees and first-bill charges: Include taxes, carrier surcharges, activation or connection charges, and other one-time fees. The FCC’s fee disclosure order distinguishes recurring monthly charges from one-time fees and notes that taxes, fees, and surcharges can vary by location.
- Phone costs and credits: Include device payments, remaining balances, trade-in credits, and the terms for receiving promotional credits. Check whether a credit requires a particular plan or financing period.
- Features you will use: Account for paid extras or subscriptions only if your household will actually use them.
Estimate both the expected monthly bill after any temporary discount and the first-year cost, including one-time charges and device obligations. Carrier-published comparisons can help identify plan differences, but offers and prices change; confirm current terms and your eligibility directly with the provider. For example, Verizon’s plan comparison is carrier-authored, not an independent market ranking.

4. Compare plan conditions, not just the word “unlimited”
Check the conditions attached to the plan tier you are actually pricing. Two plans called “unlimited” may differ in data thresholds or prioritization, hotspot capacity, international roaming, network access, and included benefits. Use the carrier’s current plan disclosures to confirm which features apply, and whether they change with the number of lines or a discount.
Choose based on the features your household needs, rather than paying for a higher tier solely because its headline data claim sounds broader. If hotspot use or international service matters, compare the specific allowance and terms for each plan.

5. Check your phone and switching obligations
Before committing, confirm that your phone is compatible with the new network and supports the bands and services you need. Check whether it must be unlocked, and review any remaining device balance, service agreement, or promotion terms with your current provider. Compatibility can vary even among phones that support the same general network generation; Verizon’s coverage guidance, for instance, calls out variation in 5G band support.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.6. Keep your number by letting the new carrier initiate the transfer
If you want to keep your number, contact the prospective provider and ask it to start the port. FCC consumer guidance says customers can generally keep a number when they stay within the same geographic area, and number transfers can occur between wireline, IP, and wireless providers. Keep the old number active until the transfer is complete; do not cancel the old service first. See the FCC’s number-porting guidance for details.
