You can clear YouTube watch history by removing a single video, deleting a selected time range, or turning off watch-history collection for future viewing. On a computer, use YouTube History in Google My Activity; in the signed-in Android app, go to Settings > Manage all history. Before deleting a range, note that YouTube also deletes search history from that same period.
Before you clear history: choose the right action
Removing an item affects only that entry. Bulk deletion removes multiple entries or a selected period. Auto-delete removes eligible history automatically after a time range you choose. Turning off watch history changes what is recorded in the future; it does not by itself erase entries already saved.
- Remove one video: use the close control beside that video.
- Delete several videos or a date range: use DELETE and choose the applicable option or period.
- Stop future watch-history logging: turn off the watch-history control or unselect the option to include watched videos.
- Delete history automatically: choose an available period in Auto-delete.
Important: deleting watch history for a selected time frame also deletes YouTube search history for that same time frame. YouTube’s search-history instructions describe the reciprocal effect: deleting search history for a selected time frame also deletes watch history from that period.
Clear YouTube watch history on a computer
- Sign in to the Google account you use for YouTube, then open YouTube History in Google My Activity.
- Select Manage history. Use the search or date-range options to find the entries you want to remove.
- To remove one video, select the close control next to it.
- To delete more history, select DELETE and choose the deletion option or time frame you want. Review the selection, including its effect on search history, before confirming.
Set automatic deletion
- In Manage history, choose Auto-delete.
- Select a time range, continue, and confirm.
Pause future watch-history collection
In YouTube History, open the Controls tab. Turn off YouTube history or unselect the option to include watched videos, depending on the control shown for your account. Videos watched while watch history is off will not appear in your watch history.

Clear watch history in the signed-in Android app
- Open the YouTube app and tap your profile photo.
- Tap Settings > Manage all history.
- Find the video you want to remove and tap its close control, or use DELETE to remove more than one entry or a selected period.
- Review the deletion period and its linked search-history effect before confirming.
To stop future watch-history logging, open the Controls tab in Manage all history and unselect Include the YouTube videos you watch. For a signed-out Android app, YouTube lists Settings > History & privacy, where you can choose Clear watch history or Pause watch history. The signed-in instructions are in YouTube Help for Android.
Clear or pause history on a TV or gaming console
Open Settings from the app’s left-hand menu, then choose Clear watch history or Pause watch history and confirm. Menus and labels can vary by television or console, so the exact placement may differ.

What happens after deleting or pausing history?
YouTube Help says, “If you delete some or all of your watch history, YouTube won’t base future video recommendations on that content.” This applies to the content you deleted, not necessarily every signal used for recommendations. If little relevant or significant recent watch history remains and you have indicated that you do not want recommendations based on it, YouTube may remove features such as homepage recommendations.
Pausing history is different from deleting it: videos watched while history is turned off will not show in watch history. Watch-history controls also should not be treated as a switch for search history; the deletion connection for a selected period is separate from whether search activity is being collected.
