To clear a Fire TV Stick cache, open Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications. Select an app and choose Clear Cache to target it, or choose Clear all Application Caches to clear every app’s cache. Try the cache-only option first: Clear Data is a separate command. Amazon recommends clearing app data and cache for intermittent app problems and on-screen low-storage messages, but cache clearing is a troubleshooting step, not a guaranteed speed boost.
Clear cache for one app or every app
Amazon documents both options in Fire TV settings. Menu wording can vary by device or software generation.
- From the Fire TV home screen, open Settings.
- Choose Applications.
- Choose Manage Installed Applications.
- For one app, select it and choose Clear Cache.
- To clear all app caches, choose Clear all Application Caches and confirm.

When clearing cache may help
Amazon says clearing app data and cache can help with intermittent app issues or low-storage messages shown on-screen. It also recommends clearing the cache on Fire TV and the mobile device when troubleshooting casting problems. For Silk browser freezes, nonresponse, or scrolling problems, Amazon recommends clearing Silk’s app data and cache and restarting Fire TV.

Use cache clearing when a particular app is misbehaving or storage trouble appears; there is no guarantee it will fix buffering or improve performance generally. For casting, follow Amazon’s casting troubleshooting steps. For Silk, see its Fire TV troubleshooting instructions.
Clear Cache is not Clear Data
Amazon lists Clear Cache and Clear Data as separate choices for an app. Start with Clear Cache. The sources cited here do not establish what clearing data removes or changes for every app, so consult the app’s guidance before choosing it. Do not assume its effects are identical across apps.

Fire TV storage features that work automatically
Background cache clearing
Amazon says that when an app has been unused for more than 30 days and the device is low on storage, Fire TV’s storage-optimizing feature automatically clears that app’s cache. Amazon says the feature cannot be deactivated. The 30-day threshold is from Amazon Customer Service; the page’s publication year is not stated. See Amazon’s cache guidance.
Auto Offload
Auto Offload is a separate storage-management feature, not a cache-clearing command. Amazon says it may offload infrequently used apps after 60 days while saving login information and settings preferences. Amazon Customer Service does not state the publication year for that threshold. Auto Offload is unavailable on Fire TV devices with Kids profiles and certain older models, including first- and second-generation Fire TV Sticks and the Basic Edition. Does reinstalling an app clear its cache?
Amazon’s Fire TV developer documentation says reinstalling an app does not replace its existing additional user data or cache.
