You can manage Facebook posts without deleting your account through Activity Log. Facebook’s Help Center says its Manage Activity section can be used to manage some shared posts, photos, and videos. It does not confirm a universal control that deletes every post at once, so check the options Facebook shows for your account before acting.
How to manage or remove Facebook posts
- Open your profile menu in Facebook and find Activity Log. Facebook’s Help Center directs people there to review and manage content shared on their profile; the available controls can vary across accounts and interfaces. See Share and Manage Posts on Your Profile.
- Open Manage Activity or the content-management option shown. Facebook describes Manage Activity as a place to manage some posts, photos, and videos in your activity log. See View and adjust your Facebook privacy settings.
- Review the items and available actions. Select the posts you want to handle, if your interface offers selection, and choose an action that matches your goal. Do not assume that every post or content type can be selected together or removed in one step.
- Check the result. Confirm what happened to each item in Facebook. Hiding a post from your profile, changing its audience, archiving it, moving it to trash, and deleting it are not interchangeable actions. Facebook’s cited guidance does not establish the retention period or exact effect of every action across content types.
Facebook’s privacy-settings guidance notes that some settings vary based on profile type. If your Activity Log does not show the options described in your account, use Facebook Help from within Facebook to find guidance for your current interface. Avoid giving your login details to third-party tools that promise to erase posts in bulk.
Save a copy before cleanup if you may need it
If you might want records of your posts later, use Facebook’s information tools to download or transfer a copy before removing content. Facebook describes options for accessing or downloading information and transferring copies of posts and other information in Access or download information about your activity in Facebook groups. Treat an export as a preservation copy: the cited guidance does not say that downloaded content can be restored to Facebook in its original form.
Deleting posts is different from limiting who can see them
Changing a post’s audience can restrict its visibility, but it does not remove the post. Use a privacy setting when you want to limit who can see content; use a removal action when you want the content taken off Facebook. Facebook’s privacy options may vary by profile type, so check the setting and its description before applying it broadly.

Why deactivation or account deletion is not the same
Deactivation
Deactivating your account hides your profile, but Facebook says your photos, posts, and videos are not deleted by deactivation. It therefore does not accomplish a post cleanup.
Permanent account deletion
Deleting your account is a much broader action than managing posts: Facebook says it removes account content and can affect Messenger and Facebook Login. It is not necessary just to manage posts while keeping your account. Facebook also notes that copies of some messages you sent may remain in friends’ inboxes after account deletion.
