Choose a thinner phone if easy handling and portability matter most and you can usually recharge during the day. Choose longer battery life if your days are screen-heavy, travel-heavy, or unpredictable, or if running out of charge would be a serious inconvenience. Compare phones by their measured runtime under similar test conditions—not by thickness or mAh alone.
Decide how much battery life your day actually requires
Think about when and how you use your phone, and whether charging is convenient. A slim phone may suit someone whose routine includes regular access to a charger. Longer endurance is more valuable when you spend hours navigating, filming, using demanding apps, or away from power.
- Lean toward a thin phone if comfort in your hand or pocket is a priority and you have reliable opportunities to recharge.
- Lean toward endurance if you use your screen heavily, travel often, work away from outlets, or need a buffer for unpredictable days.
- Compare the trade-off in person when possible: a small difference in weight or thickness may matter more to your comfort than a modest capacity difference—or vice versa.
Compare runtime, not just battery capacity
Battery capacity in mAh indicates how much charge a battery can hold; it does not promise a particular number of hours. Samsung notes that phone usage, battery age, and temperature affect battery duration. Display brightness, size, resolution and refresh rate, camera use, and background apps also influence consumption. Samsung’s battery-life guidance explains why capacity alone is not a dependable way to predict your day.
Look for battery tests that use comparable methods and workloads. TechRadar reported just under 13 hours for the Galaxy S25 Edge and just over 10 hours for the iPhone Air in its tests. Those are that publication’s results, not a universal runtime guarantee; the cited excerpt does not establish a usage profile that lets every reader predict their own hours.

What current examples show about thinness and capacity
These examples illustrate the physical and capacity trade-offs, but the figures are not a controlled runtime comparison. Capacity labels matter: the iPhone Air figure below is marked unofficial by TechRadar, while Samsung labels its figures as rated or typical in the cited specifications.

Within Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series, the official India specifications list the S26 at 7.2 mm and 167 g with a 4,300 mAh rated battery; the S26+ at 7.3 mm and 190 g with 4,900 mAh rated; and the S26 Ultra at 7.9 mm and 214 g with 5,000 mAh rated. These figures show that larger stated capacity accompanies some increases in thickness and weight in this series, but they do not establish how much longer any model lasts without comparable runtime testing. Check the details that change the trade-off
Screen and camera use
A bright, large, high-resolution or high-refresh-rate screen can use more power, as can frequent camera and video use. Consider how you use those features rather than assuming two phones with similar capacities will last equally long.
Charging and accessories
Check wired and wireless charging options and speed alongside runtime. TechRadar says Apple claimed its iPhone Air MagSafe battery pack can add up to 60% charge. The extra pack may help on a long day, but carrying and attaching it reduces the advantage of choosing an especially slim phone.

Region and availability
Specifications and stock can vary by market. The Tecno Spark Slim, for example, may not be a practical option in many Western markets. Verify the exact regional model, its current local availability, and accessory compatibility before buying.
