For calls in open offices, cafés, or shared homes, choose a headset by checking two different things: how well its microphones limit background noise sent to other people, and how much noise its earcups and active noise cancellation (ANC) reduce for you. Then confirm comfort, wireless setup, and compatibility with your meeting platform and the exact headset version.
Separate microphone noise rejection from noise cancellation
ANC reduces surrounding sound that you hear. Microphone noise rejection aims to reduce background sound picked up and sent to meeting participants. One feature does not prove the other works well: a headset can quiet your surroundings while still transmitting nearby voices, or handle outgoing noise without making the room quiet for you.
Nearby conversation is a notable challenge in open offices. Jabra’s product guidance identifies speech and human voices as common hybrid-work noise, but that is a manufacturer statement, not an independent comparison of headsets. Jabra also distinguishes software suppression from processing performed by the headset’s microphones. Logitech likewise describes ANC and microphone features separately. Jabra’s explanation of noise cancellation and isolation and Logitech’s Zone Wireless 2 product information illustrate why it is worth checking both sides of the call.
Evaluate the headset against your workday
Outgoing voice in nearby speech
Look for specific microphone and voice-processing details, and consider where the microphone sits relative to your mouth. A boom microphone may give you more control over placement, but a feature label alone cannot establish how clearly colleagues will hear you in a busy room. If you can, test a call while someone nearby is talking. Listen to a recording or ask a colleague whether your voice stays clear and background chatter is reduced.

What you hear around you
Check whether the headset has ANC, passive earcup isolation, or both. Think about whether you need to hear coworkers or announcements: maximum isolation may not suit every shared workplace. ANC is most relevant to noise reaching your ears; it should not be used as a shortcut for judging microphone performance.
Comfort during long call blocks
Choose a form factor you can comfortably wear for the duration of your meetings. On-ear and over-ear designs feel different, and fit, clamp, heat, weight, and pad condition can matter over a long day. The available product information does not establish a reliable cross-model comfort ranking, so try the headset if possible and check whether replacement pads are available.

Wireless connections and call controls
Check whether the headset connects over Bluetooth, includes a USB receiver, or supports both. Confirm how it pairs with your computer and phone, whether it switches between devices as you expect, and where mute and call controls are located. If you need a wired fallback, verify that the exact model supports one rather than assuming it does.
Platform and deployment fit
Compatibility can depend on the product variant, receiver, operating system, browser, and meeting app. Check the Microsoft Teams certified-devices list, Zoom’s certified hardware list, or Google Meet’s certified headsets list for your setup. These lists can change. For business purchasing, also confirm current support, warranty, replacement-part, and fleet-management terms with the manufacturer.

Compare a focused shortlist
The examples below are compatibility and feature candidates, not a performance ranking. The stated capabilities come from manufacturers or platform certification lists; no independent head-to-head microphone test is established here.
| Headset | Relevant documented details | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Logitech Zone Wireless 2 | Logitech describes four noise-canceling microphones, AI noise suppression, and hybrid ANC. It says the headset is certified for Microsoft Teams as a Premium Microphone for Open Office. Its product page states Zoom, Google Meet, and Google Voice certification for the plug-and-play receiver; native Bluetooth support has additional platform and version conditions. These are Logitech specifications and compatibility statements, not independent performance findings. | Confirm which connection you will use, the applicable platform and software versions, and whether the receiver is included with your chosen version. Logitech Zone Wireless 2 product information. |
| Jabra Evolve2 85 | Jabra describes digital hybrid ANC, noise isolation, and call-microphone features, and offers UC-certified and Teams-optimized variants. Its product page states ten microphones, but that product specification does not establish comparative quality. | Match the exact variant to your workplace platform and receiver. Microsoft’s list contains an Evolve2 family certified-device entry with a Link 390 dongle; check that the listed combination matches your setup. Jabra Evolve2 85 product information and Microsoft’s certified-devices list. |
| Poly Voyager Focus 2 | It appears on Microsoft Teams and Google Meet’s certified-device lists. Zoom’s hardware list includes a Poly BT700 receiver entry. That makes it a compatibility candidate, not a ranked recommendation. | Check the current platform lists and confirm the exact headset and receiver SKU. Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet. |
Microsoft’s list includes models from Jabra, Logitech, Yealink, EPOS, Poly, and other manufacturers. A listing is a useful starting point, not proof that every listed device is wireless or suited to your room. Inspect each model’s specifications and verify the exact version.

Make the final choice with a real call test
- Write down your usual setup. Note where you take calls, how often nearby people speak, which meeting app you use, and whether you need to hear coworkers.
- Shortlist by the problem you need to solve. Prioritize microphone features when remote participants hear too much background chatter. Prioritize ANC or passive isolation when you need to hear less room noise. Check comfort and connection workflow before settling on a model.
- Check the exact compatibility combination. Confirm the headset variant, receiver or dongle, operating system, browser, and meeting platform against current manufacturer and certification information.
- Test in your own environment when possible. Make a call or recording with realistic background speech. Judge what remote participants hear separately from what you hear through the earcups.
Google Meet says its listed headsets are lab tested and work with Meet, and the Google Meet team recommends certified headsets for audio quality during video meetings. Certification is a useful compatibility signal, not a guarantee of how a particular headset, fit, room, and connection will sound in every call. Google Meet’s headset guidance.
