Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesChoose a stablecoin card for overseas spending by first confirming that its issuer accepts residents of your home country, then comparing the full cost of converting your balance into the currency you will spend. Look beyond a headline such as “no FX fee”: the exchange rate may still include a spread, and separate network, ATM, funding, or cash-out charges may apply. The available official disclosures do not establish one universally cheapest card.
How a stablecoin card works abroad
At the checkout, a stablecoin card generally works like an ordinary Visa or Mastercard. Behind the scenes, its issuing program accesses or checks your wallet balance, reserves value, and converts stablecoins to fiat as needed. The merchant is normally paid through card rails in the local currency. Exact steps depend on the issuer and program.
Visa describes a traditional model in which stablecoins are converted to fiat before settlement, as well as an emerging model in which supported stablecoins settle with Visa before conversion for merchant payout. These are payment-system arrangements, not guarantees about an individual card’s availability, acceptance, or exchange rate. Visa’s stablecoin overview and its Bridge partnership announcement explain the models; Mastercard also describes its stablecoin-related work here.
A payment network’s global reach does not mean every card can be issued to every traveler, works at every merchant, or offers a competitive conversion rate. Check the card’s issuing program, country eligibility, and current fees. See the providers’ OKX Card information and Kraken Card announcement for examples of issuer-specific terms.

Compare the full cost, not just the FX-fee label
For an overseas purchase, the useful comparison is the amount ultimately deducted from your stablecoin balance for the local-currency purchase. Check each possible layer below; not every charge applies to every card.
- Conversion rate and spread: Find out what rate the issuer uses, whether it adds a spread or markup, and when the rate is fixed.
- Foreign-transaction fee: Check whether the issuer adds a fee beyond the card network’s currency conversion.
- Weekend or destination pricing: Ask whether rates or fees change on weekends or for particular destinations.
- Cash withdrawals: Check whether ATM withdrawals are supported and identify issuer fees, ATM-owner charges, and conversion costs.
- Funding and cash-out: Include any costs to move stablecoins into the card program or withdraw unused funds.
“No FX fee” may refer to one fee line rather than the all-in cost. For example, OKX reports a 0.1% market spread per transaction in a fee table labeled as of May 2026. That figure is not a complete comparison of overseas conversion rates or other possible charges.

Check these practical details before choosing
- Confirm eligibility: Verify that the card is issued to residents of your home country and that you may continue using it while traveling.
- Check supported assets and custody: Identify which stablecoins and networks are supported, and whether the balance is held by the issuer, in a custodial account, or accessed from a wallet.
- Read the current conversion terms: Find the rate-setting method, spread, markup, conversion fee, and timing for purchases in another currency.
- Verify cash access and merchant use: Confirm ATM support, likely merchant and terminal acceptance, and how to freeze the card or reach support if a payment fails.
- Ask about holds, refunds, and disputes: Find out what happens to a converted balance after an authorization hold, refund, or dispute. Provider disclosures do not answer this consistently.
- Consider risk and taxes: A card program adds issuer, custody, stablecoin, and access risks. Converting into fiat may have tax consequences depending on your jurisdiction; check local rules rather than assuming a stablecoin’s target price makes a transaction tax-neutral.
What current card disclosures establish
The examples below are dated snapshots of official provider statements, not a ranking. Their disclosures cover different fee details, so the figures cannot be compared as a complete all-in overseas cost.
| Option | What the official source says | What to verify for travel |
|---|---|---|
| OKX Card | OKX says the card launched across the EEA on January 28, 2026, supports USDC and USDG, converts purchases to euros, and uses Mastercard. Its explainer, updated August 15, 2026, reports no OKX card, transaction, or FX fee and a 0.1% market spread per transaction; the fee figures are labeled as of May 2026. | Kraken Card | Kraken’s July 13, 2026 launch announcement says eligible UK and EEA customers can spend from more than 600 supported crypto and cash balances through Mastercard. Kraken states no Kraken transaction or ATM fees and up to 2% cashback, subject to terms. | Bridge-enabled Visa cards | Visa said on March 3, 2026 that Bridge-enabled stablecoin cards were live in 18 countries, with expansion to more than 100 planned by the end of 2026. Visa says users can spend stablecoin balances at Visa-accepting merchants, with funds converted to fiat for merchant payment. Keep network growth in perspective
Visa reported approximately $5.2 billion in stablecoin-linked card volume in 2025, 319% year-over-year growth, and 0.04% of its $14.2 trillion total global volume. Visa also reported more than 130 stablecoin-funded programs across more than 50 countries in its March 31, 2026 explainer. These are Visa’s figures, not measures of a particular card’s availability, value, or suitability for a trip. Visa’s overview provides the figures and context.
