Choose a Nintendo Switch 2 travel case by starting with what you will carry: a slim case suits the console and a few game cards, while an all-in-one case is built for a broader travel setup. Then verify the exact case listing says it fits Switch 2, check how it protects and retains the console, and compare its storage layout and outside dimensions with your loadout.
1. Decide what you need to carry
Case capacity and portability are a tradeoff. A slim handheld case keeps the load compact when you mainly need the console and a few games. An all-in-one design may accommodate accessories such as a dock, power adapter, cables, or controller, but it takes up more room. Do not assume a case can carry a full setup just because it is marketed as a travel case; check the product’s stated capacity and layout.
| Travel loadout | Case format to consider | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Console and a few game cards | Slim handheld case | Console fit, card retention, and whether any attached grip or cover fits. |
| Console plus small accessories | Handheld case with accessory storage | What the pockets hold and whether storing accessories reduces the space available for the console. |
| Console plus dock, charger, cables, or controller | All-in-one case or travel bag | That the named accessories fit in the actual compartments, and whether the larger case is practical to carry. |
For a model-specific example, GamesRadar’s January 2026 review of a JSAUX all-in-one case describes foam inserts, adjustable or removable compartments, and a handle and strap. Those features may suit a flexible, accessory-heavy loadout, but they are specific to the reviewed case, not a standard feature of all-in-one cases. Read the GamesRadar JSAUX review.

2. Verify fit for the exact case and console
Do not infer Switch 2 compatibility from a case that fits the original Nintendo Switch or Switch OLED. Look for an explicit Switch 2 fit claim on the exact product listing, and check whether it applies to the particular version or size of the case you plan to buy. If you use an attached protective grip or cover, confirm that it fits inside too; a case that fits the bare console may not fit it with added accessories.

For an example of product-specific compatibility wording, Nintendo Canada’s listing for the RDS Industries Game Traveler Deluxe says it is compatible with Nintendo Switch 2, Switch OLED, Switch, and Switch Lite. That claim applies to that listing and product, not every RDS case or every case designed for an earlier Switch. Check Nintendo Canada’s RDS listing.
3. Judge protection by construction, not slogans
Compare the details that affect how the console sits inside the case rather than relying on broad labels such as “protective.” Look for shell rigidity, padding, internal retention that prevents the console from shifting, and clearance around the controls and sticks. If you carry the console with a grip or cover attached, fit matters as much as the case’s outer shell.

- Travel case
- Protection Library holds 12 game cards and offers full screen and analog stick protection
- microSD Card Case 2pcs, each holds 2 microSD Cards
- Comfortable carrying handle and soft cleaning cloth
- Shell: Check whether the case uses a firm outer shell or a softer fabric construction, and consider how much structure you want around the console in your bag.
- Interior: Look for padding and a layout that holds the console in place without pressing on controls.
- Fit: Confirm clearance for sticks, controls, and any attached grip or cover.
- Evidence: Treat protection descriptions as design information unless the specific model has credible test evidence. The cited product examples do not establish a shared independent drop-protection rating for travel cases.
Nintendo publishes a product information document for its official Switch 2 carrying case and screen protector. Consult it for details about that official accessory, but do not assume its design or fit characteristics apply to third-party cases. See Nintendo’s carrying case and screen protector information.

4. Check game-card and accessory storage
Count the storage you will actually use. Compare how many game cards the case holds, whether the slots retain them securely, and whether there is a separate place for small accessories. A pocket’s presence does not tell you whether it will fit your charger or whether putting gear in it will interfere with the console compartment.

- Game Storage: Securely holds up to 10 game cards*
- Integrated Play Stand: unfold the convenient play stand and enjoy tabletop mode with ease

- Compatibility: Compatible with Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo Canada’s RDS Game Traveler Deluxe listing specifies space for four Nintendo Switch game cards. Use that as a model-specific capacity claim, not a general figure for Switch 2 cases. Check the current listing for the version you are considering, especially if you need space for more games or larger accessories.

Look at external dimensions alongside capacity. A larger case may hold more equipment but be less convenient in a backpack or for everyday transport. Check the listed dimensions and weight where available, then consider how you will carry it: by hand, with a handle, or on a shoulder strap.
