Start with the scanner already on your phone: iPhone and iPad users can scan in Notes or Files, while Google Drive is a practical cross-platform choice if you already store documents there. Choose a dedicated app such as Adobe Scan when you specifically need its OCR, cleanup, export options, or Acrobat workflow. Before scanning sensitive records, check where files are stored, which account controls them, and whether the PDF tasks you need are included or paid.
Choose by platform and where you want scans saved
The best document scanning app for iPhone or Android is usually the one that fits your existing phone and document workflow—not the one with the longest feature list.
| Option | Platform documented by the provider | Where scans go | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple Notes or Files | iPhone and iPad | Notes, or a location you choose in Files | Occasional scans when Apple’s built-in workflow is enough |
| Google Drive | iOS and Android mobile apps | Your Google Drive | People who already use Drive and want mobile scans saved there as searchable PDFs |
| Adobe Scan | iOS and Android | Adobe cloud storage and connected Adobe workflows | People who need its described OCR, cleanup, output options, or Acrobat integration |
iPhone and iPad: try Notes or Files first
Apple Support says, “You can use the Notes app to scan documents and add signatures on your iPhone or iPad.” Notes supports automatic or manual capture, corner adjustment, and multi-page scans. Files can scan a document and let you choose where to save it. See Apple’s iPhone and iPad scanning instructions. These are Apple-device options; they should not be treated as Android instructions.
iPhone or Android: use Drive if Drive is already your destination
Google documents scanning in the Drive mobile app on both iOS and Android. Its help pages describe scanning receipts, letters, and billing statements into searchable PDFs saved in Drive. Google says the web version does not provide scanning capture. For the iPhone and iPad steps, see Google Drive’s iOS scanning instructions; the broader mobile guidance is in Google Drive’s scanning help.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
iPhone or Android: consider Adobe Scan for a dedicated workflow
Adobe describes Scan as a camera-scanning app with boundary detection, cleanup, OCR, searchable and editable PDFs, JPEG output, and Acrobat integration. Its product page lists iOS 15 or later and Android 8.0 or later; requirements can change, so check the current listing for your device. Adobe also describes encryption in transit and at rest; that is Adobe’s security statement, not an independent audit. See Adobe’s Scan to PDF product page.
Decide whether you need a picture, searchable PDF, or editable file
A scan can look like a page but still behave like an image. If you need to find words with search or copy text, check that the app’s output includes optical character recognition (OCR) and produces the kind of searchable PDF your workflow requires. Google describes Drive scans as searchable PDFs; Adobe describes OCR that creates searchable and editable PDFs. Those are provider-described capabilities, not a guarantee that every page will be recognized perfectly. Verify an important document’s output before relying on it.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Also distinguish searchable from editable. Search lets you locate recognized words; editing or converting document content may require a separate PDF tool or subscription. If a JPEG image is sufficient—for example, for a quick visual record—PDF-specific features may not matter.
Compare capture, cleanup, and multi-page handling
For a document that must be legible, look for capture controls that match the job: automatic or manual shutter, page-edge adjustment, rotation, filters, cleanup, and the ability to add, retake, or remove pages. The providers document the following workflows:

- Google Drive on iOS: automatic or manual capture, crop and rotate, filters, cleanup, and controls to add, retake, or delete pages before saving.
- Adobe Scan: Adobe describes boundary detection and cleanup, as well as bulk scanning.
These are documented feature descriptions, not a comparative test of scan quality or OCR accuracy. A phone stand is optional: none of the cited provider instructions requires one.
Check export and downstream PDF work before committing
Make a list of what happens after capture. If you only need a PDF in a chosen folder, a built-in scanner or Drive may be enough. If you need JPEG output, Adobe lists that as an option. If you need to convert, edit, merge, protect, or otherwise handle PDFs, check whether the app supports the exact task and whether it requires a different Adobe product or a paid plan.

Adobe says advanced PDF handling is available through subscriptions such as Acrobat, Export PDF, PDF Pack, or Acrobat Pro. The US App Store listing describes Adobe Scan as free to download with in-app purchases and advertises PDF/JPEG output, OCR, bulk scanning, and cleanup. “Free to download” does not establish that every advanced action is free; store details and prices vary by region and can change. Check the current listing and subscription terms for your region before building a workflow around a paid feature.

Storage destination affects access as well as convenience. Apple Files lets you choose a save location. Drive saves scans in Drive, so access follows the Google account and storage you use there. Adobe Scan uses Adobe cloud storage; Adobe’s FAQ says to use the same account across Adobe products and to confirm uploads have finished. For large or multi-page scans, Adobe also advises considering connectivity and backups. Its Adobe Scan FAQ, last updated July 30, 2026, lists 5 GB of free cloud storage for a free sign-up; confirm the current allowance and terms before relying on it.

Google states that Drive content is not used for advertising. That is Google’s own statement about its service, not a comprehensive independent privacy assessment. Before uploading sensitive records to any provider, review its current terms, account access and your workplace or organization’s requirements. If a service uploads scans to cloud storage, consider who can access that account and whether the service is appropriate for the documents you handle.
Quick Recap
Use this quick decision path
- Do you use an iPhone or iPad and scan only occasionally? Try Notes or Files first. Use Notes if its scan-and-sign workflow fits; use Files when you want to select a save location.
- Do you already organize documents in Google Drive? Use the Drive mobile app on iOS or Android if saving a searchable PDF directly to Drive meets your needs.
- Do you need Adobe’s OCR, cleanup, output options, or Acrobat handoff? Consider Adobe Scan, then check the required account, cloud storage, and whether the specific later PDF operation is included or paid.
- Does the document contain sensitive information? Confirm the storage destination, account access, provider terms, and any organizational rules before scanning to a cloud service.
- Will you rely on text recognition or PDF editing? Test that the resulting file supports the required search, editing, or conversion workflow before using it for a high-stakes process.
