Measure the completed LEGO model in the exact pose you plan to display, then compare its maximum width, depth, and height with the case’s usable interior dimensions. Include the stand, accessories, figures, scenery, and any parts that protrude; leave room to place the model inside without scraping it against the walls. A ready-made case is simplest when its interior fits comfortably. For oversized or unusually shaped builds, consider a custom case.
Measure the model in its display pose
Set movable parts where you intend to leave them and include every item that will sit inside the case. Measure the model’s maximum width, depth, and height, including its display base or stand. For wings, sails, antennas, doors, or other adjustable elements, use the widest pose you expect to display. If you may reposition those parts later, allow for that movement too.
A set’s box dimensions, piece count, or product photos do not establish whether the built model will fit. Measure the completed build instead, as KGBOX advises on its Showcase-Pro product page.
Compare the measurements with usable interior space
Check all three dimensions—width, depth, and height—against the case’s internal fit limits, not just its outside measurements. For example, KGBOX lists Showcase-Pro cases with exterior dimensions of 30 × 30 × 40 cm and 60 × 30 × 40 cm, while their corresponding internal fit limits are 29 × 29 × 39 cm and 59 × 29 × 39 cm. These are product specifications, not universal case dimensions.

Leave clearance so you can position the model without rubbing it against the case. The amount depends on the case and how you load it. Incasedisplays recommends adding at least 1 inch to each overall dimension for its custom case; KGBOX advises allowing extra room and sizing up when a build is close to a case’s maximum. Follow the chosen seller’s own measurement guidance rather than treating either recommendation as a general standard.
Choose a case format that suits the build
Compact official LEGO case
The LEGO Shop US listing for Play and Display Case – Blue 5006157 describes a two-level case with six gray baseplates, a transparent cover, and a LEGO backdrop. Its stated dimensions are over 7.5 in (19 cm) high, 15.5 in (39 cm) wide, and 5.5 in (14 cm) deep. The listing says models and minifigures are not included. Treat this as a compact display option and check your build against the available interior space before buying.

Ready-made stackable acrylic case
KGBOX lists two sizes of its Showcase-Pro acrylic case, made with 5 mm acrylic. The product page describes magnetic front access and a freely stackable design, with optional outline LED back panels. Each light panel must match its case size; the two case sizes are not cross-compatible. Check the listed internal fit limit for the specific size you are considering.
Custom-size acrylic case
A custom case can help when a model is too large or irregular for a ready-made size. Incasedisplays describes a made-to-order, flat-packed case with a magnetic snap front and black acrylic base; it asks customers to enter interior dimensions. Puffin Plastics offers a bespoke acrylic case with selectable acrylic thicknesses from 3 to 10 mm. Its listed dimensions are external and carry a stated tolerance of ±1 mm.

Compare features beyond fit
Once you know a case will fit, compare the features that affect everyday use and presentation. The relevant options differ by product, so check the current listing rather than assuming a feature is standard.
- Access: Check whether the cover lifts off, opens at the front, or uses another design. Magnetic front access is listed for KGBOX Showcase-Pro and the Incasedisplays custom case.
- Base and footprint: Consider the base style and whether it provides the look or support you want. LEGO’s compact case includes gray baseplates; Incasedisplays describes a black acrylic base.
- Stacking or mounting: Confirm that the exact case is designed for stacking or wall mounting if you need either. KGBOX describes Showcase-Pro as stackable.
- Material and construction: Compare the stated material and thickness, assembly requirements, and whether the case ships flat-packed.
- Lighting: Check whether lighting is included or optional, and whether accessories are compatible with the exact case size.
- Ordering terms: Verify shipping destination, lead time, measurement convention, and return policy before placing an order.
Interpret dust and UV claims carefully
Seller descriptions are not equivalent to comparative protection tests. Incasedisplays calls its clear acrylic UV-resistant, Flying Box describes protection from dust and UV rays, and KGBOX describes its acrylic case as dust-resistant. The reviewed product pages do not provide UV transmission percentages or independent comparative test results, so those phrases do not establish a quantified level of protection or prove that all acrylic cases perform alike. Keeping a model out of direct sunlight is a prudent display choice, but the cited information does not establish a measured fade-prevention benefit.

Confirm custom measurements and return terms
Custom sellers do not all use the same dimension convention. Incasedisplays asks for interior wall-to-wall dimensions and notes that the exterior is larger because of panel thickness and the base lip. Puffin Plastics uses external dimensions in its calculator and describes the resulting internal clearance. Flying Box provides its own example for adding space to an item’s measurements and says custom orders are not returnable. Read the selected seller’s current instructions and written terms before submitting dimensions.

- Confirm whether the dimensions you enter are internal or external.
- Check how the seller accounts for panel thickness, base lips, and stated tolerances.
- Allow clearance appropriate to the case’s own guidance and your loading method.
- Confirm lead time, shipping terms, and whether a made-to-order case can be returned.
