Games claimed as PlayStation Plus Monthly Games and games downloaded from the Game Catalog or Classics Catalog are not permanent purchases: you can play them only while your membership is active. Catalog games may also leave the service. To check what your account has claimed, look in the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games area or your game library while signed in to the same account. PlayStation says redeemed Plus packs and avatars, and games you actually bought at a Plus discount, are kept after cancellation.
Check which games are tied to your PlayStation Plus account
Use the account that claimed or downloaded the game. A library entry shows that a game is associated with your account; it does not prove you own a permanent license. The key distinction is whether you claimed a Monthly Game, downloaded a catalog game, or purchased the game.
On PS5
- From the Games home screen, scroll right and select PlayStation Plus.
- Open the Benefits tab and select Monthly Games to inspect the monthly titles associated with the service. Highlighting a title provides the available action, such as downloading it.
- For subscription catalog titles, go to Games home screen > PlayStation Plus > Benefits > Game Catalog. The current listing reflects the offering available to your account, not a permanent entitlement.
On PS4
- From the function screen, scroll right and select PlayStation Plus, then choose Monthly Games.
- A title not yet associated with your account can be claimed using Add to Library; choose Download to install it.
- To browse subscription catalog games, open PlayStation Plus from the function screen and select Game Catalog.
In a browser or the PlayStation App
Sign in to the same PlayStation account and check its library or Monthly Games area. PlayStation supports starting monthly-game downloads remotely through a web browser or the PlayStation App. An installed copy on a console, by itself, does not establish that you will retain access after membership expires. Menu wording can change with console software updates, so check the current Store or console listing for a specific title.
What happens to each type of game when Plus ends?

PlayStation’s US games FAQ puts the Monthly Games rule this way: “You can add the monthly games to your game library to download and play at any time as long as you have an active membership plan.” In its US usage terms, PlayStation likewise says continued access to Plus features and benefits requires an active subscription.

Check the two reasons a catalog game can stop working
For a Game Catalog or Classics Catalog title, access depends on both your membership and the game’s continued presence in the service. Even before your subscription ends, a catalog game may have an announced removal date. Check the current catalog listing for the title’s availability; a download does not prevent removal. The same subscription and catalog conditions apply to DLC tied to that game.
What cancellation changes—and what it does not
Canceling turns off future renewal; it does not immediately remove benefits already paid for. PlayStation’s cancellation guidance says benefits continue through the paid-through period, and access ends when the membership itself ends. If you renew later, eligible Monthly Games may become playable again, but that does not convert them into purchased games.

Why your list may differ from someone else’s
PlayStation says content availability can vary by country or region, membership tier, platform, account type, age, and parental-control settings. Catalog lineups also change over time. A title visible to another account—or in another country—may not be available to yours. For the rule or menu wording in your region, use the local PlayStation support and Store pages; the kept-content exceptions above are stated on PlayStation’s UK cancellation page.
