Before sending USDC or USDT, open the recipient’s current deposit or receive screen, select the exact stablecoin and network, and use the address shown for that selection. Then choose the same token and network in the sending wallet or exchange and verify the address and any required memo or tag. A ticker alone does not identify a blockchain, and a transfer sent on an unsupported route may not be credited.
How do I check which network to use for USDT or USDC?
- Open the receiving service’s deposit or receive flow. Navigate to the official app or website yourself, then choose the exact asset, such as USDC or USDT. Do not rely on a generic crypto deposit screen.
- Select a network offered for that asset. Read the full network label shown by the recipient. Network names and abbreviations can differ between services.
- Copy the route-specific address and routing details. Use the address or QR code generated after choosing that token and network. Record any required memo, destination tag, or other field.
- Set up the send using the same token and network. In the sending wallet or exchange, select the matching stablecoin and network. Check that you are making a direct send or withdrawal, not using a bridge or swap flow.
- Compare the destination details. Paste the recipient address into the sender’s destination field and check it against the receiving instructions. Verify the memo or tag, if required.
- Confirm support on both ends. Make sure the recipient accepts deposits of that exact token on that network for your account and region, and that the sender offers the corresponding withdrawal route. If the labels do not match or support is unclear, stop and consult the service’s official instructions or support.
- Review the transaction summary before confirming. After sending, check the sender’s transaction record or the relevant blockchain explorer. The recipient may require confirmations before crediting a deposit.
This check reduces the chance of choosing the wrong route, but it does not guarantee a deposit will be credited. The recipient’s live instructions and support terms govern each transfer.
Why the stablecoin ticker does not identify the blockchain
USDC and USDT are available across multiple blockchains and protocols. Circle’s USDC page reports native support on 38 blockchain networks as of September 16, 2026, including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Polygon PoS, Solana, and Stellar. That dated list can change; check Circle’s current USDC network information rather than treating the count as permanent.
Tether lists USD₮ on protocols including Ethereum, Tron, and Solana. Its supported-protocol information also says it is no longer issuing or obligated to redeem Tether Tokens on some protocols, including Omni Layer and Algorand. See Tether’s supported protocols and verify that the route remains supported by the service you are using.

Issuer support does not mean every wallet or exchange accepts deposits on every network. For example, Coinbase’s cited deposit instructions list USDC on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Avalanche C-Chain, Polygon, Solana, Base, and Optimism; that list applies to that help page, not to every service or account. Check the recipient’s live asset-and-network selector for your particular deposit.
What can go wrong if the network or address does not match?
Similar-looking addresses are not proof of compatibility
An EVM-style address beginning with 0x can appear on multiple networks. That shape does not make those networks interchangeable: the selected network on the sending side must match the recipient’s deposit route.

A service may issue different addresses for different routes
Some platforms use distinct deposit addresses rather than one universal wallet address. ether.fi, for example, explains that its main Cash Vault address differs from provider deposit addresses, and that its provider EVM, Solana, and Tron routes have separate address instructions. It says to select the token and network and use the address displayed for that selection. See ether.fi’s deposit network and address instructions.
Token variants and supported networks matter
A generic ticker may not reveal whether a token is native or bridged. Circle’s USDC information distinguishes native USDC from bridged USDC on some networks. Also, a network available for one token may not be available for another at the same service. Blockchain.com advises checking the supported token-and-network combination in its multichain deposit and withdrawal instructions.

A successful blockchain transaction may still fail to credit
A transaction can complete on-chain while the receiving service does not support that token-and-network route for your deposit. It may then remain uncredited, and recovery is not assured. Circle’s USDC Terms state that an initiated third-party USDC transaction is irreversible and Circle cannot reverse or recall it. Circle also advises users to double-check before confirming in its explanation of irreversible transfers.
How should I choose between supported networks?
Only compare routes after verifying that the exact token and network are supported for both the sender’s withdrawal and recipient’s deposit. Consider these factors:

- EASY ASSET MANAGEMENT: Monitor and transact seamlessly with Trezor Suite, our user-friendly desktop and mobile app
- Compatibility: Confirm the token variant and network are supported on both sides, including for your account and region.
- Total cost: Check the sender’s withdrawal fee and any network or service charges shown for the route.
- Crediting requirements: Check the recipient’s current confirmation or processing requirements. They vary by chain and platform, so do not assume a fixed arrival time.
- Address and routing fields: Make sure the receive flow provides an address for that route and note any required memo or tag.
A lower-fee or faster-looking option is not useful if the recipient cannot credit it.

- Check the sender’s transaction status and copy the transaction hash.
- Use the transaction record or the relevant chain explorer to confirm the actual network and destination address.
- Contact the receiving service through its official support channel. Provide the asset, network, destination address, transaction hash, and memo or tag details if applicable.
Do not assume the platform can recover the funds. Circle says it cannot reverse or recall a third-party USDC transaction, and funds sent to a wrong network or address may be unrecoverable.

When is a bridge different from a direct stablecoin transfer?
A direct send uses a network supported by both the sending route and the recipient’s deposit route. A bridge is a separate workflow for moving assets between chains; it is not a way to ignore the recipient’s network instructions. If you intend to bridge, verify the source and destination chains, wallet, token variant, and fees in the bridge flow, then confirm that the receiving service supports the resulting token and network before depositing.
Quick Recap
How to avoid stale or misleading deposit instructions
- Use the recipient service’s live deposit screen when preparing each transfer; network availability and instructions can change.
- Do not reuse a saved address unless the service confirms it is valid for the same token and network.
- Navigate to the official service directly instead of following an address or contact link in an unsolicited message.
- If you consider a small test transfer, first confirm the route itself is supported. A small amount can still be sent to an unsupported route.
