To check whether your PC can run a new co-op game, compare your computer with the game’s current system requirements on its official store page. Check the operating system, CPU, graphics card, RAM, and free storage against the minimum and recommended specifications separately. Meeting the minimum is a starting point—not a promise of smooth performance.
Find the game’s current system requirements
Open the official store listing for the exact game and edition, then find its “System Requirements” section. Use the current listing rather than a generic gaming-PC checklist: requirements are game-specific, and updates can affect how a title performs on older hardware. Steam Support explains that updates may add features or improve graphics and sound in ways that make a game run less well on older PCs: Steam Support: Game requirements and performance.
Check your PC against each requirement
Compare your computer with the listed requirements category by category. Keep the minimum and recommended columns distinct; a match in one category does not make up for a mismatch in another.
- Operating system: Check the supported Windows version or other listed OS, including whether 64-bit is required.
- CPU: Compare the exact processor model with the listed minimum or recommended processor.
- GPU: Compare the graphics card model, and check any named graphics feature or DirectX requirement.
- RAM: Compare installed system memory with the listed amount. Available memory can also be affected by other programs running.
- Storage: Check that the required drive space is free where you plan to install the game.
Exact model names are more useful than descriptions such as “gaming laptop” or “integrated graphics.” Steam notes that PC configurations vary, so a broad label cannot establish whether a particular game will work.

Understand what minimum and recommended specs tell you
Minimum requirements indicate the game’s stated baseline; recommended requirements are a separate, higher target. Neither should be treated as a guaranteed frame rate. Steam Support puts it plainly: “Simply meeting the system requirements does not mean you’ll have high FPS or strong in-game performance.” Drivers, available RAM, background processes, resolution, and graphics settings can all affect results. See Steam Support’s guidance on requirements and performance.
If you care about a particular experience—such as a target resolution, graphics preset, or frame rate—check whether the game publisher states a performance target for that setup. A requirements list alone may not answer that question.

Check DirectX and graphics hardware separately
If the listing names a DirectX version or shader requirement, verify that your graphics hardware supports the required feature. The DirectX version installed in Windows is not, by itself, proof that the GPU supports the game’s graphics requirements. Microsoft explains the distinction in its DirectX version guidance.

A reliable yes-or-no assessment needs both the exact game and your PC’s actual specifications. If you cannot identify a CPU or GPU model, find its model name in your system information or device settings before comparing it. If a requirement is ambiguous, consult the game’s official support or store information rather than inferring performance from the PC’s brand or marketing label.
