To find out whether an RX 9070 GRE will fit, check the exact board-partner card—not just the GPU name—against your case’s clearance, available expansion space, power supply and cables, and motherboard slot. The cards differ: ASUS lists a 305 mm, 2.5-slot model with a 650 W PSU recommendation, while ASRock lists a 298 mm, 2.9-slot model with a 700 W recommendation. You need your exact card and PC component models to reach a definitive answer.

1. Identify the exact RX 9070 GRE model

Find the full product name or SKU of the card you plan to buy, then use that manufacturer’s specifications. Record its length, height or width as stated by the manufacturer, thickness or slot count, power connectors, and recommended PSU capacity. The GPU-family name alone does not establish those details.

For example, ASUS lists its ATS-RX9070GRE-O12G at 305 × 126 × 50 mm and 2.5 slots, while ASRock lists its RX 9070 GRE Steel Legend Dark 12GB OC at 298 × 131 × 58 mm and 2.9 slots. The ASUS card is longer but thinner; the ASRock card needs more neighboring space. Check the specifications for the exact variant you intend to buy: ASUS ATS Radeon RX 9070 GRE OC Edition specifications and ASRock Steel Legend Dark specifications.

2. Check case clearance and cable room

  1. Find your case’s GPU-length limit. Compare the case manufacturer’s maximum graphics-card length with the exact card’s published length.
  2. Account for installed obstructions. Front fans, a radiator, a drive cage, or other hardware can reduce the usable space. If the published case limit does not reflect your current configuration, measure the build itself.
  3. Check card height and power-cable space. A card can fit by length but still leave too little room to connect and route its power leads in a narrow chassis. Compare the manufacturer’s other dimensions with the case layout, and allow room for the cable connection.

Do not treat a case’s maximum GPU length as a guarantee if a radiator or other component occupies part of that space.

ASUS Prime Radeon™ RX 9070 GRE EVO OC Edition Graphics Card (PCIe 5.0, HDMI/DP 2.1, 2.5-Slot Design, axial-tech Fans, Dual Ball Fan Bearings, Dual BIOS, GPU Guard)
  • OC mode (GPU Tweak III): Up to 2880 MHz (Boost Clock)/ up to 2300 MHz (Game Clock)
  • OC mode (GPU Tweak III): up to 2880 MHz (Boost Clock)/up to 2300 MHz (Game Clock) Default mode: up to 2860 MHz (Boost Clock)/up to 2280 MHz (Game Clock)
  • Axial-tech fans now feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
  • Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal heat transfer, lowering GPU temperatures for enhanced performance and reliability
  • 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance

3. Check thickness and expansion positions

Compare the card’s slot thickness with the case’s open rear expansion positions and any cards already installed in the motherboard. The card occupies space beyond the motherboard connector: for example, ASUS specifies 2.5 slots for its ATS model, while ASRock specifies 2.9 slots for the Steel Legend Dark model. Confirm that adjacent slots and components will not obstruct the card or its cooling area.

4. Verify the PSU recommendation and connectors

Use the recommendation for the exact partner card, not just the AMD baseline. AMD lists 220 W typical desktop board power and a 650 W minimum PSU recommendation for the RX 9070 GRE family. Board power is not the same as the wattage required of the PSU, and partner recommendations can be higher.

Sapphire 11354-01-20G Pulse AMD Radeon™ RX 9070 GRE Gaming OC Graphics Card with 12GB GDDR6, AMD RDNA 4
  • Memory Size: 12 GB
  • Memory Interface: 192-bit GDDR6
  • Output: 2 x HDMI, 2 x DisplayPort

The cited ASUS ATS model and SAPPHIRE PULSE RX 9070 GRE OC each specify two 8-pin connectors and a 650 W recommended PSU. ASRock specifies two 8-pin connectors and recommends 700 W for its Steel Legend Dark model. ASUS says its recommendation is based on a fully overclocked GPU and CPU system configuration. Check the exact product page for your chosen card: AMD RX 9070 GRE specifications and SAPPHIRE PULSE RX 9070 GRE OC product requirements.

  • Check the PSU’s rated capacity against the exact card’s recommendation.
  • Confirm that the PSU has the required number of appropriate PCIe power leads available for the card.
  • Make sure there is physical space to connect and route those leads in the case.

A PSU’s suitability also depends on the rest of the system. These card specifications cannot certify an unspecified PC or PSU.

  • Dual-ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as standard conventional sleeve bearings designs

5. Confirm the motherboard slot and case layout

Check that the motherboard has an available full-length graphics slot and that the case exposes the corresponding rear expansion positions. AMD lists a PCIe 5.0 x16 bus for the RX 9070 GRE family. SAPPHIRE’s product requirement calls for a PCI Express PC with “one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard.” Verify the exact motherboard and card documentation rather than assuming compatibility from the GPU name alone.

Final pre-purchase checklist

  • You have the exact RX 9070 GRE partner model or SKU.
  • Its length fits the case’s usable clearance after accounting for fans, a radiator, drive cages, or other obstructions.
  • Its height and power connections have room in the case.
  • Its thickness fits the free expansion space and does not conflict with installed cards.
  • The PSU meets that card’s recommendation and has the required native PCIe leads available.
  • The motherboard and case provide an available full-length graphics slot and the matching rear positions.

If you cannot verify any of these against the component model numbers or physical layout, there is not enough information to say that the card will fit your PC.
