A matching band is necessary in some cases, but it does not by itself guarantee that the carrier will accept the phone or that 5G service is available where you use it.
1. Identify the exact OnePlus model and regional version
Start with the phone’s full model number and the market or carrier version. A family name such as “OnePlus 13” is not specific enough: regional variants can have different cellular band lists. Check the model number in the phone’s settings, on its box or invoice, or in the relevant OnePlus support documentation.

OnePlus’s official US OnePlus 13 specifications and China OnePlus 13 specifications illustrate why the region matters: their listed bands differ. Do not assume that a phone bought in one market has the same radio support as a similarly named model sold elsewhere.
2. Find the phone’s official 5G NR band list
Use the specification page or manual for the exact model and region. Look for a section labeled “5G,” “5G NR,” or “NR bands.” Keep this list separate from the LTE bands; an LTE band match is not proof of a 5G NR band match.

For example, OnePlus’s US OnePlus 13 specifications list these 21 5G SA band designations: n1, n2, n3, n5, n7, n8, n12, n20, n25, n28, n30, n38, n40, n41, n48, n66, n71, n75, n77, and n78. That is an example for the model and region on that page, not a band list for every OnePlus phone. The count is simply the number of entries in the specification, not a compatibility rating.
3. Compare the list with your carrier’s 5G bands
Check the chosen carrier’s current official network or device information for the country where you plan to use the phone. Compare 5G NR designations directly: for instance, n41 with n41 or n77 with n77. Do not compare a phone’s LTE list against a carrier’s 5G list.
Carrier deployments can differ by country and location. Even within a country, a supported band may not be deployed in every service area. OnePlus notes that actual network and band use can depend on local carrier deployment in its China OnePlus 13 specifications. Review the carrier’s local coverage information as well as its band information.

4. Run the carrier’s IMEI or BYOD compatibility check
After the band comparison, use the carrier’s official compatibility or bring-your-own-device checker with the IMEI of the exact phone you intend to use. The carrier can use this check to assess whether it accepts or can provision that device; a specification-page match alone does not establish approval.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteT-Mobile, for example, provides an IMEI Status Check and says a phone needs to support both the network frequency band and technology. This describes T-Mobile’s guidance, not a universal approval policy. For another carrier, including an MVNO or an international provider, use that provider’s own current checker and requirements.
5. Confirm coverage and any service features you need
A positive compatibility result does not mean 5G will be available at every location. Check the carrier’s coverage information for the places where you expect to use the phone. If a particular network mode, voice service, eSIM, or account feature matters to you, ask the carrier whether the exact model supports it on that network.

OnePlus’s US OnePlus 13 page qualifies eSIM availability by local-carrier compatibility. The sources here do not establish VoLTE, emergency-calling, eSIM, or specific 5G-mode support for an unspecified OnePlus model and carrier, so verify those requirements with the carrier rather than inferring them from a band list.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to interpret the result
- No matching 5G NR bands: The listed specifications do not show a 5G band match for the bands you checked. Confirm that you have the correct regional model and current carrier information before deciding.
- One or more matching bands, but the carrier checker rejects the phone: Band overlap is not enough; follow the carrier’s device-acceptance guidance or contact its support team.
- The carrier accepts the phone, but coverage is absent in your area: Compatibility cannot create local network coverage. Check the carrier’s local coverage information.
- The carrier accepts it and bands overlap: This is a better indication of compatibility, but confirm any service features you rely on and remember that actual service depends on local deployment.
OnePlus’s historical OnePlus 5 bands and frequencies guidance makes the distinction explicit: a device that supports some or all of a carrier’s required frequencies still cannot connect unless approved for that network. That page is model-specific historical guidance, but it illustrates why band matching and carrier acceptance are separate checks.
