Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThere is no single Windows 11 screen that lists every Intune policy applied to a computer. The most reliable check is the Microsoft Intune admin center, where you can view configuration profiles, compliance policies, assignment status, and errors for a specific device.
Windows also provides local evidence through Access work or school, the MDM diagnostic report, Event Viewer, and—for Windows Update policies—the configured update-policy page and PolicyManager registry keys.
Check Intune policies assigned to a Windows 11 device
Use this method when you want the administrator’s view of the device.
- Sign in to the Microsoft Intune admin center.
- Go to Devices > All devices.
- Select the Windows 11 device.
- Select Device configuration.
The page lists configuration profiles assigned to the device and shows a status for each one. Common statuses include:

| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Conforms | The device received the profile and reported that it conforms. |
| Not applicable | The policy or setting does not apply to this device, including when the Windows version or edition does not support it. |
| Pending | The device has not checked in, or it received the profile but has not reported its result. |
| Conflict | Another policy sets the same setting differently, or an existing device setting cannot be overridden. |
| Errors | Deployment or a particular setting failed and requires investigation. |
For compliance policies, open the device’s policy results and check Device Compliance. Configuration profiles appear under Device Configuration. If an expected policy is absent, check its assignments and confirm that it targets the affected user or device.
Check a particular Intune policy’s device report
The device view is useful for seeing everything assigned to one computer. A policy’s own report is better when you are troubleshooting one profile across many devices.
For example, to check a Windows Update ring:
- In Intune, go to Devices > Windows > Update rings for Windows 10 and later.
- Select the update-ring policy.
- Open Device and user check-in status.
- Select View report.
The report shows devices assigned to the ring and the status reported for each device. The same general approach applies to other policy types that provide a device or assignment report.
View policies from Windows 11
If you have access to the PC but not the Intune admin center, Windows can show policies visible to the enrolled device.

- Open Settings.
- Go to Accounts > Access work or school.
- Select the work or school account or the MDM enrollment.
- Select Info.
In the Managed by Organization pane, Windows lists policies applied from Intune when they are exposed through the device-management connection.
This is useful, but it is not a universal list of every Intune profile and every individual setting. A policy can be applied successfully without appearing as a readable entry in this Windows page. Use the Intune report or the MDM diagnostic export for definitive troubleshooting.
Force Windows 11 to synchronize with Intune
A missing or stale policy may simply reflect the device’s last check-in time. To initiate an MDM sync:
- Open Settings > Accounts > Access work or school.
- Select the work or school account or MDM enrollment.
- Select Info > Sync.
The sync requests pending policies, profiles, applications, and management actions from Intune. Return to the Intune admin center after the device checks in and refresh its policy results.

Use Company Portal to check compliance and access
Company Portal can evaluate whether the device meets requirements for access to work or school resources. Depending on the current Company Portal interface, use one of these documented paths:
- Devices > Check Status
- Devices > select the device > Device status > Check access
This check evaluates compliance and access requirements. It is not the authoritative full list of every configuration profile applied to Windows. For policy-by-policy information, use the Intune admin center, Windows’ MDM diagnostics, or the relevant local management evidence.

Check Windows Update policies specifically
Windows 11 exposes a useful page for update policies:

- Go to Windows Update > Advanced options > Configured update policies.
Check the policy source. An Intune-delivered update policy should show Mobile Device Management. If it shows Group Policy, the setting came from on-premises Active Directory rather than Intune.
Microsoft’s current update-ring documentation lists Windows 11 Pro and Windows 11 Enterprise as supported editions, along with Windows 11 Team for Surface Hub devices. Windows Holographic for Business and Enterprise LTSC support only subsets of update-ring settings.
Export the Windows MDM diagnostic report
The diagnostic report provides device-side evidence of policies deployed through MDM.
- Open Settings > Accounts > Access work or school.
- Select Export your management log files.
The files are saved to:
C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\MDMDiagnostics
Windows creates two files for each log: the log itself and a companion file intended for viewing in applications such as Excel.

The report is particularly useful when the Intune portal shows an unclear status or when a setting is not visible in Windows Settings.
Inspect MDM errors in Event Viewer
When a policy has an error, check the Windows MDM event log:
- Open Event Viewer.
- Browse to Applications and Services Logs > Microsoft > Windows > DeviceManagement-Enterprise-Diagnostics-Provider > Admin.
- Look for errors or warnings associated with the policy’s Set action.
These events can identify a failed setting, unsupported CSP value, permissions problem, or another reason the device could not apply the profile.
Verify Windows Update policy values in the registry
For Windows Update settings delivered through Intune’s Policy CSP, inspect:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PolicyManager\current\device\Update
The values should correspond to the settings configured in the Intune update-ring policy.

Do not rely only on these traditional Windows Update locations to prove that Intune applied a policy:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
Those locations can contain settings from other management sources. The PolicyManager path is the relevant location for Intune-delivered Policy CSP values.
Check for Group Policy interference with gpresult
Intune’s MDM state is not reported by gpresult, but the command can show whether on-premises Group Policy is also configuring the computer.
For a summary, open Command Prompt and run:
gpresult /r
To create a detailed HTML report on the desktop, run:
Recommended Free Tools
gpresult /h “%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\gpresult.html” /f
Open the generated file and review the applied computer and user policies. If a Group Policy setting conflicts with an Intune setting, the result can be reported as a conflict or effective Windows behavior may come from the competing management source. On ARM64 Windows, only the gpresult executable in SysWow64 supports the /h option.
Why an Intune policy may show Not applicable
Not applicable does not necessarily mean that Intune failed to deliver the profile. It can mean that:
- The Windows version is too old for the setting.
- The setting requires a particular Windows edition or SKU.
- The configuration service provider does not support that setting on the device.
- The selected setting does not apply to the device’s configuration.
Windows 11 alone does not guarantee that every policy setting is supported. Check the requirements for the relevant Windows Configuration Service Provider and confirm whether the device runs Home, Pro, Enterprise, Education, or another edition.
Why a policy is pending or missing
Try the following checks in order:
- Confirm that the device is enrolled in Intune and appears under Devices > All devices.
- Check whether the policy targets the device, its user, or a group containing either one.
- Run Settings > Accounts > Access work or school > Info > Sync.
- Check the device’s last check-in time in Intune.
- Review the MDM diagnostic report and Event Viewer for delivery errors.
- Check for a conflicting Group Policy with
gpresult.
Assignments through Microsoft Entra dynamic device groups can take longer after enrollment because group membership requires additional processing. Delivery may wait until the next scheduled check-in. User-group assignments avoid this particular post-enrollment dynamic-membership delay.

Policy removal is also not always immediate. After a profile is removed or unassigned, the Microsoft Entra user may need to sign in and the device must synchronize with Intune. Removing a user from an assigned group can take up to seven hours or more for assignment removal and device synchronization. Some Windows CSPs remove settings when the policy is withdrawn, while others retain them, a behavior commonly called tattooing.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Understand policy conflicts
A compliance-policy setting takes precedence over the same setting in a device-configuration profile. If two compliance policies evaluate the same setting, the more restrictive compliance setting applies.
Conflicting settings between configuration policies are reported as conflicts and must be resolved manually. Review all profiles assigned to the device and remove duplicate or contradictory settings rather than assuming that the newest profile wins.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Duplicate entries for the same Intune policy can be normal. Intune may deliver a policy in both the logged-on-user context and the system/device context. Kiosk devices using Autologon or a local-account user type may show only the system-account entry.

FAQ
How do I see all Intune policies applied to a Windows 11 device?
In the Intune admin center, go to Devices > All devices, select the device, and open Device configuration. Review Device Compliance separately in the device’s policy results. Windows Settings and Company Portal do not provide a complete universal list of every Intune policy.
How do I force Intune policies to apply in Windows 11?
Go to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school, select the work or school account or MDM enrollment, choose Info, and select Sync. In Company Portal, use Settings > Sync.
What does Pending mean in an Intune policy report?
Pending means the device has not checked in, or it received the policy but has not reported a result. Sync the device, confirm its enrollment and assignment, then review the MDM event log if the status does not change.
Why does an Intune policy say Not applicable?
The setting may not be supported by the device’s Windows release or edition, or it may not apply to that device configuration. Check the requirements of the relevant Windows CSP and the device’s Windows SKU.
Does Company Portal show every Intune policy?
No. Company Portal’s Check Status or Check access functions evaluate device settings, compliance, and access to work resources. Use the Intune admin center, MDM diagnostic report, or relevant local logs for a complete policy investigation.
How can I tell whether Windows Update settings came from Intune or Group Policy?
Open Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Configured update policies. Mobile Device Management indicates an Intune-delivered policy; Group Policy indicates an on-premises Active Directory policy. You can also inspect the PolicyManager registry path and run gpresult.
The Bottom Line
For the authoritative answer, use Intune admin center > Devices > All devices > select the device > Device configuration, and review Device Compliance for compliance policies. If the result is pending or incorrect, sync the device, export the MDM diagnostic report, inspect the DeviceManagement-Enterprise-Diagnostics-Provider log, and use gpresult to identify Group Policy interference.
