Search Microsoft’s Windows on Arm Ready Software dashboard for each app you rely on, then check its compatibility status, whether it runs natively or through emulation, and the listing’s validation or update date. Snapdragon X2 Plus is ARM64-compatible, but that does not certify every app, driver, peripheral, or laptop configuration.
Check apps one at a time
- List the software and dependencies you need. Note the exact app and version, including work tools, games, plug-ins, VPN or security software, device-management utilities, and any required printer or other peripheral.
- Search Microsoft’s compatibility dashboard. Start at Microsoft’s Windows on Arm documentation and follow its link to Windows on Arm Ready Software. Search the app or game by its exact name. Microsoft describes the dashboard as an actively maintained compatibility resource.
- Inspect the app listing. Read the compatibility status, native or emulated designation, publisher, validation status, and update date where shown. Treat the entry as information about the listed software, not a guarantee for another release, plug-in, peripheral, or laptop setup.
- Check the publisher’s requirements. For business-critical software, verify current support notes and ask the publisher or your IT team about Arm64 support for required drivers, VPN or network filters, security tools, anti-cheat components, and device software.
- Test anything essential that remains uncertain. If there is no definitive listing or publisher confirmation, try the exact app, version, and peripherals on the exact device before relying on them.
Understand native Arm64 versus emulation
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Plus product brief labels its 10-core and 6-core processor variants “ARM64-Compatible.” That describes the processor architecture; it is not an app-by-app compatibility verdict.

Microsoft Learn states that “Windows 11 on Arm supports emulation of both x86 and x64 apps.” The Windows version on a particular laptop matters: Prism is included with Windows 11 24H2, and Microsoft says it is optimized for Snapdragon processors. Check drivers and other low-level dependencies
Emulation handles user-mode app code; it cannot make an incompatible driver work. Microsoft Learn says: “In all cases, kernel-mode drivers and user-mode print drivers MUST be built as native Arm64 binaries to work on Arm64 devices.” Check the device maker’s driver page and confirm requirements for printers, VPNs, security software, network filters, anti-cheat, and other hardware or system integrations. Microsoft’s Windows Arm-based PCs FAQ also identifies possible issues with some games, apps, and peripherals, including games that depend on unsupported anti-cheat drivers.

If an app is listed but does not work
- Confirm that the app version matches the listing and install available Windows updates.
- Check the publisher’s current compatibility notes and verify that required drivers, plug-ins, and peripherals support Arm64.
- For a Prism-related issue, right-click the app executable, select Properties, open Compatibility, and review the Windows on Arm emulation settings.
Microsoft describes those per-app settings as troubleshooting options, not a guarantee: changing them may reduce performance or cause the app to crash or fail to launch. See Adjust Emulation Settings on Arm.
