To change the homepage in desktop Firefox, open Menu > Settings > Home and startup, then choose Firefox Home (Default), Custom URLs…, or Blank page under Homepage and new windows. Firefox for iPhone and iPad has a separate Settings > Homepage control. Android’s Homepage settings customize Firefox Home, but the available options depend on the app version, device, and region.
Change the homepage in Firefox on a computer
- Open the Firefox menu and select Settings. In some versions or contexts, this may be labeled Preferences.
- Select Home and startup.
- Under Homepage and new windows, choose Firefox Home (Default), Custom URLs…, or Blank page.
- For a custom homepage, select Custom URLs… and enter the web address you want Firefox to open.
You can set multiple pages as your homepage. Open the pages in separate tabs, then use Use Current Pages in the homepage setting.
Use the Home button as a shortcut
If the Home button is visible on the toolbar, open the page you want and drag its tab onto the button, then confirm. The button is not shown by default. If it is missing, change the homepage in Settings or add the Home button by customizing the toolbar.
Change the homepage on iPhone or iPad
- Tap the menu button. On iPhone, it is at the bottom of the screen; on iPad, it is in the top-right corner.
- Tap Settings, then Homepage.
- Choose Firefox Home or Custom URL. If you choose a custom URL, enter the web address.
To open the homepage you selected, tap Homepage in the menu.

Customize Firefox Home on Android
- Tap the three-dot menu.
- Tap Settings, then Homepage.
- Adjust the Firefox Home screen and the sections available there, such as shortcuts, bookmarks, recently visited pages, and stories.
Mozilla’s Firefox for Android help article says available options may vary by Firefox version, device, and region. Its instructions describe customizing Firefox Home; they do not establish that every Android version offers an arbitrary custom homepage URL. Check the Homepage panel in your app for the options available to you.
Homepage and new-tab settings are different
On desktop Firefox, Homepage and new windows and New tabs are separate controls. Setting a custom URL or blank page for the homepage does not, by itself, change what opens in a new tab. The new-tab choices include Firefox Home and a blank page. Mozilla says Firefox uses the New Tab page as its default homepage.

If Firefox changes your homepage back
If your choice will not stay saved or changes unexpectedly, Mozilla identifies a few possible causes: an extension controlling the homepage, a toolbar that has taken it over, or a link embedded in the Firefox launch shortcut. These are possibilities, not proof of what is happening on a particular installation. Check the relevant troubleshooting guidance from Mozilla Support’s homepage instructions and its linked help pages to investigate the cause.
