Changing a skin in SKlauncher depends on the account used to sign in. An SKlauncher account uses the launcher website’s Customisation page. A Microsoft account uses the official Minecraft Launcher instead. An offline account cannot use SKlauncher’s skin customisation system.
The steps below apply to Minecraft: Java Edition. SKlauncher does not launch Bedrock Edition.
Before changing your skin
Check which type of account you use in SKlauncher:

Creating an SKlauncher account is not the entire setup. You must also create an in-game profile on the Customisation page. That profile supplies the in-game username and enables skin and cape customisation.
Change your skin with an SKlauncher account

Open the SKlauncher website and select Sign in.

Log in to your SKlauncher account. If you do not have one, select Register now and complete registration first.

Open Customisation.

If you have not already created an in-game profile, create one on this page. Choose an available username. SKlauncher usernames are case-sensitive and cannot duplicate an existing SKlauncher username.

Use the page’s skin upload control to upload your skin file. The official documentation describes this action as uploading the skin; the control’s exact label may vary, so do not look for a specific button name such as “Choose Skin” or “Change Skin.”

Set the Slim field to match the skin model. Use the slim setting for a slim-arm skin and the other setting for a standard-arm skin. A wrong choice can leave the file uploaded but give the character incorrect arm dimensions or an unexpected appearance.

Save or apply the profile changes if the page presents that option.

Open SKlauncher and select Log in with the same SKlauncher account. Start the profile associated with the username you configured.
No Minecraft command is required. The documented process is handled through the SKlauncher website and then the launcher.

Change a Microsoft-account skin
Do not upload a Microsoft-account skin through SKlauncher’s Customisation page. SKlauncher’s web customisation applies to SKlauncher accounts, not Microsoft accounts.

Open the official Minecraft download page.

Download or open the official Minecraft Launcher and sign in with the Microsoft account used for Minecraft: Java Edition.

Use the official launcher’s skin-management option to upload and apply the skin.

Launch Java Edition with that Microsoft account and check the character in-game.
SKlauncher’s FAQ directs Microsoft-account users to the official Minecraft Launcher for this process. The SKlauncher website is not the correct upload location for this account type.
Can an offline account use a skin?
No. SKlauncher’s account comparison lists Change your skin: No for an Offline account. Registering an SKlauncher account and creating an in-game profile is the supported route if you want SKlauncher’s skin customisation features.

What other players can see
SKlauncher-managed skins are visible to other players when everyone on the server is running SKlauncher. The official comparison information limits SKlauncher-account skin visibility to SKlauncher players. Microsoft-account skin visibility is global.
This means your skin may appear correctly for you but not for a friend using a different launcher or account system. Server-side tools such as SkinsRestorer do not automatically override the account skin in every situation.
If the new skin does not appear

Return to the SKlauncher account settings and confirm that the skin is visible there.

Check the Slim setting. The wrong model setting affects the arms and overall appearance.

Restart the game.

Restart SKlauncher as well, then log in again.

Confirm that your friends are using SKlauncher if they cannot see an SKlauncher-managed skin.

Check whether Compatibility Mode is enabled. Some clients and mods require it, but enabling Compatibility Mode disables SKlauncher’s skin system. If the upload is correct and the skin still does not load with a particular client or mod, this is a likely cause.

Important skin-system limitations
Skin-source priority
When several systems provide skin data, SKlauncher uses the following priority order:
- SKlauncher
- Microsoft
- Server-side mods or plugins, such as SkinsRestorer
A server plugin therefore may not replace an active SKlauncher skin in the way you expect.

Minecraft: Java Edition does not display transparent skins by default. SKlauncher does not include a mod that enables transparency. If a transparent skin is important, you need a suitable separate mod that supports this feature.
Do not use the ATLauncher instructions
Some search results describe an Accounts tab, right-clicking a skin, and selecting Change Skin. That is an ATLauncher procedure, not the current SKlauncher method. For SKlauncher, use the website’s Sign in → Customisation path, then log in through the launcher.

- You are playing Minecraft: Java Edition.
- You know whether the account is SKlauncher, Microsoft, or Offline.
- For an SKlauncher account, an in-game profile exists under Customisation.
- The uploaded skin matches the selected Slim setting.

Why is my skin uploaded but my arms look wrong?
The Slim field probably does not match the skin model. Select the slim setting for a slim-arm skin and the standard setting for a standard-arm skin.
Why can I see my skin but my friends cannot?
An SKlauncher-managed skin is intended to be visible to players running SKlauncher. Also verify the skin is visible in your account settings, then restart both the game and the launcher.
Does SKlauncher work with Minecraft Bedrock Edition?
No. SKlauncher is for Minecraft: Java Edition.
Can an offline SKlauncher profile change its skin?
No. The official SKlauncher account comparison lists skin changing as unavailable for Offline accounts.
Why does my skin disappear when I use a modded client?
