To stop your PlayStation Plus membership from renewing, sign in to Account Management, open Subscription, and select Cancel Subscription beside PlayStation Plus. You can also cancel from PS5 or PS4 settings. Cancellation normally stops the next renewal; your benefits continue through the paid period shown in your account. Changing tiers is different: downgrades take effect at the next payment date, while upgrades may trigger a prorated charge.

Cancel PS Plus from the web, PS5, or PS4

Use the account that owns the PlayStation Plus membership. Check the next payment date or subscription end date shown for that account before confirming. PlayStation’s cancellation guidance, reviewed October 4, 2026, lists these routes:

Web: Sign in to Account Management, select Subscription from the left menu, then choose Cancel Subscription beside PlayStation Plus.
PS5: Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Subscriptions > PlayStation Plus > Cancel Subscription.
PS4: Go to PlayStation Plus > Manage Membership > Subscription > Cancel Subscription.

If you change your mind, PlayStation says you can select Reactivate Subscription before the next payment date to keep the membership active.

Change your PlayStation Plus tier

To move between membership tiers, open the PlayStation Plus subscription on the web, PS5, or PS4, choose the plan-change option, and select the new tier and payment frequency. Review the offer displayed for your account before confirming: the exact charge depends on the account and market.

Change	When it takes effect	Billing and benefits
Downgrade to a lower tier	On the next payment date	Benefits exclusive to the higher tier end when the downgrade takes effect.
Upgrade to a higher tier	The upgrade applies before the next payment date	A prorated charge may apply for the remaining time until that date. Standard billing at the selected tier and payment frequency resumes then.

PlayStation’s plan-change page describes example prices as illustrative and potentially outdated, so rely on the price and prorated amount shown during your own plan change rather than an example from a support page.

What happens to your benefits after cancellation?

Canceling stops future renewal but does not necessarily end access immediately. PlayStation Support says benefits remain available until the end of the subscription payment period already purchased. Use the end date shown in the account; there is no single calendar interval that applies to every subscriber.

When the membership period ends, PS Plus benefits such as monthly games, online storage, and online multiplayer are no longer available. Monthly games obtained at no cost through PS Plus become unavailable while the subscription is inactive. Redeemed PS Plus packs and avatars, as well as purchases made at a discount, remain yours.

Cancellation is not a refund request

Canceling prevents a future payment; it does not refund charges already made. Refund eligibility is a separate question governed by the PlayStation Store policy for your country or region.

For the United States, PlayStation’s reviewed cancellation policy says a customer may cancel an initial subscription purchase and request a refund within 14 days of the initial transaction. The refund may be reduced to account for service use. For a free-trial signup, the 14-day period starts when the trial order is accepted, and trial days count toward that period. This US policy should not be treated as a worldwide rule; check the PlayStation Store policy for your region or contact PlayStation Support if you are elsewhere.
