Paramount+ explicitly says deleting an account removes profiles and My List. Max documents how My List works and says an existing account can retain it when you resubscribe, but neither service’s cited guidance guarantees indefinite watchlist retention after every cancellation.
Before canceling, identify who bills your subscription
Start in the service account’s subscription or billing settings. Paramount+ and Max subscriptions bought through an app store, retailer, or other partner generally need to be canceled through that provider, not through the streaming service. If the biller is unclear, check the subscription details and your billing statement.
Use the cancellation route for the provider shown on your account. Paramount+ lists separate instructions for direct subscriptions and subscriptions through Apple, Android, Fire TV, Roku, Prime Video Channels, and Apple TV Channels. Max also names provider-specific routes, including Apple, Google Play, Roku, Samsung, selected Amazon billing paths, and some internet, mobile, or TV providers. How to cancel Paramount+
If Paramount+ bills you directly
- Sign in to your Paramount+ account and open the account or subscription settings.
- Choose the cancellation option and complete the on-screen confirmation.
- Save the confirmation and note the date your access ends.
Paramount’s US Terms of Use say direct-billed subscribers manage or cancel through their account. In the ordinary case, service continues until the cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Fees already paid are not automatically refunded; the terms describe exceptions where required by law or otherwise stated. Paramount+ US Terms of Use.

If another provider bills you
Cancel in that provider’s subscription settings or cancellation workflow. Follow the route listed for the biller on your account; the exact steps differ by provider.
How to cancel Max (formerly HBO Max)
- In the Max app or at max.com/subscription, check the subscription details to identify the biller.
- Open the biller’s cancellation workflow. If Max bills you directly, use the subscription controls in your Max account; if a partner bills you, cancel through that partner.
- Complete the confirmation and note the end date shown by the biller.
Max subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. Max advises canceling before the next billing date to avoid another charge, and says deleting the Max app does not cancel a subscription. Keep the account; do not delete it to cancel
Canceling stops renewal; deleting an account is a separate and more destructive action. Paramount+ says account deletion permanently removes account-associated profiles and viewing preferences, including movies and shows saved to My List. It also ends access immediately, even if subscription time remains, and the unused period is not refunded. Keep the Paramount+ account if preserving its saved data matters. Paramount+
Paramount+ explicitly documents that deleting an account removes My List. The official materials cited here do not explicitly guarantee that My List will remain available indefinitely after ordinary cancellation and a later return. Cancel the subscription without deleting the account, and do not treat cancellation as a confirmed long-term data-retention promise.

Max
Max calls its saved list “My List.” Each profile has its own list, and titles remain there until removed or no longer available on Max. If your list looks empty, first check that you are using the profile where you saved the titles. Max Help Center: My List.
Max says subscribers who previously had Max or HBO Max can resubscribe using their existing account and retain profiles, My List, and playback history. This supports signing in with the same account when you return; it is not a stated guarantee about every account’s data throughout any length of time after cancellation. Quick checklist
- Identify the provider that bills the subscription.
- Cancel through that provider and save the confirmation and end date.
- Keep the streaming account; do not choose account deletion as a cancellation shortcut.
- For Max, check the correct profile if My List seems missing.
- If you resubscribe to Max, use your existing account where possible. Paramount+’s cited guidance does not make the same explicit resubscription-retention statement.
